Story

Following a dramatic renovation in July 2013, The Shrewsbury Arms now boasts a rustic interior with a warm and friendly atmosphere. Bringing the pub back to its natural beauty, the main dining room and bar have varnished wooden floors and cosy log fires that’ll keep you warm in the cold winter months. You can also enjoy a cold refreshing glass in our beer garden basking in the sunny weather with friends and family.

As a local resident, I have always used and supported The Shrewsbury Arms. However, I have been to the pub twice in the last two months, and been disappointed on both occasions. The first visit prior to Christmas was at 8pm on a Friday evening, when we went there with our neighbours,  and found that although the pub was all lit-up and apparently open, it was locked up and there was no notice to explain why it was closed. Upon knocking, nobody answered but staff were visible inside. 
I went again with my wife last evening (6/2/18) at just before 8pm, with the intention of having a drink and a meal, only to be told by a female member of the bar staff that they were "busy with a couple of large parties in" (the place was half empty), followed by which she added that they stop serving food at 8pm. I find it astonishing in this day and age that a pub can be closed without any apparent reason at 8pm on a Friday evening, and also that they can afford to refuse to serve two customers with food at 8pm on a Tuesday evening. Shan't be going back in a hurry, as there is a much warmer and more professional welcome at the nearby Chesterfields....

Very pleasant  Sunday lunch, great service in nice surroundings.

Only one small issue we sat by a door and unfortunately the three kids from family of five were just left  to run in and out of the door with no consideration for other guests, so our food whent cold! But is was okay there mum and dad had a peaceful lunch!

Absolutely fantastic, great value and delicious, freshly made, hot food. Excellent friendly prompt service. Wow. A little hidden treasure. Can't wait to eat here again.

The pub is one of the best. we were able to get a private room above the bar on two occasions.also the food is so nice not frozen and reheated just fresh so i will give it 10/10 we will be back for more.
