Story

From the moment you walk up into the church through our spectacular entrance and enter The Bar on the ground floor, you will be over whelmed with the magnificent interior. Every aspect of the original building has been meticulously restored. No expense has been spared in ensuring the quality of materials and craftsmanship necessary to create the perfect atmosphere to enjoy your favorite tipple in this uniquely historic building, yet the mixture of old and new make it a true original...

We serve 3 Premium Lagers, 4 Real ales, Guiness and Ciders all on draught along with a personally produced cocktail and wine list for you to choose from.

Appealing food is a big feature of what we do here in The Church and the The Bar is no exception. We serve an extensive A La Carte and Specials Board menu, 7 days a week. The spectacular surroundings together with the ambiance and atmosphere of The Church allows all of our guests to have the best possible experience

A pleasant surprise tucked away just off the city walls. Within an old church with some features retained Excellent real ales and a good and varied menu. Well worth a visit.

Nice place but that's the most positive thing I can say. Waited almost half an hour for two burgers. When they arrived the chips were cold. Very few staff serving tables so when we complained about the cold chips and replacements were brought we had finished the rest of the meal! Won't be coming back!!! Reviews are great for the cocktails but food anders service is poor. One saving grace, we weren't charged when I complained to the manager.

Went here with my other half to have some food and drinks. The place is nice and cosy as well as looking amazing inside with it previously being a church before being renovated. The staff are very nice and the food was absolutely delicious! The only reason why I've given 4 stars is due to the fact that when we were there, the staff were a bit slow with noticing when we were ready to order or have the bill and also as we booked a table in advance, there wasn't anybody at the front desk to greet us and show us to a table. All in all, the food and the atmosphere is great but the staff seem to lack enthusiasm slightly.

Wonderful food plus restaurant. Great to see a very old church turned into a very friendly place and keeping the Windows plus the organ. Instead of knocking it down it's been turned into a meeting place and not one of strickness as they once were. I wish that a lot of old places were turned into useful homes for first time buyers instead of them rotting away. I will be back with another friend. Margaret Rose Sutton

The location is great, it's an impressive building and a nice setting for a special meal. What lets it down is the food; it's not bad food, it's just passable, which is a shame. The price you pay is really for the location rather than what you're going to eat and drink.
