We were actually on our way to Saltburn for lunch when we spotted that The Ship had reopened… well, plans changed!nnSo, the four of us decided to pop in for a look — and we’re so glad we did. The place is bright, clean and really welcoming, and it was lovely to see some of the original features still there. It’s been given a lovely new lease of life.nnWe were absolutely spoilt for choice with the menu which made choosing what to eat considerably harder than it should have been!. The food was delicious, portions were generous and the prices were really reasonable. The service was friendly and attentive too.nnWe went in on a whim and came away very happy — definitely one of those “best decisions we made today” moments!nnI’ll certainly be back next time I’m up North. Wishing The Ship every success and hoping it stays open for many, many years to come.nnLong may The Ship sail!
We attended today for Sunday lunch. Disabled access was ramp that had a 45 degree angle, was not available at the time of arrival so had to lift my disabled dad up and down 4 large stairs. It was available on leaving but was extremely dangerous and my dad almost fell out of his wheelchair.nDisabled toilet was down two stairs ….unbelievable….gents toilets too small to get a wheelchair through my father trapped his hand in the door staff not willing to help young man spent more time sitting on the stool behind the bar near the dumb waiter than actually serving customers food was cold, we were the second customers to be served, no cauliflower cheese on our lunch as stated on the menu, coffee was cold and vile. We had to ask for table to be cleared of glasses, plates that hadn’t been touched but no check back done. The whole experience was exhausting, disappointing and upsetting for my disabled dad. It’s such a shame as the venue is lovely but now I can see why it was so empty. Do not recommend for anyone who is disabled or has mobility problems. Staff on the bar need serious training in customer service and exceeding the customer experience.
always loved this pub. very cosy venue, popped in for a pint the other day and it felt nice to be back here after it being closed so long. have not tried the food so i can't comment on that.
Back open after a refit and new Management, looking a lot better that before . Good selection of drinks and meals, dog friendly. Sport room with Pool darts and sky sportsnHas entertainment on. Would definitely recommend
We came from Leeds to try out the ship inn, after reading that it had recently been refurbished and had re opened.nI called in an hour before we were due to eat and confirmed with the bar person we would be returning, to which she said we could return and order at 2.40om.nWe did this but on our return we were told the kitchen had closed as there was no food left. No food at all?? Not even a plate of chips or just one option?? Absolutely nothing? I do not believe they had sold out of everything! A d surely they would have known they were running short and hour before! If that was the case we would have eaten before our walknAn absolute waste of a trip to Marske to visit this new pub that we couldn't even eat in.nWe won't be going again or recommending to friends. A very disappointing start to a new venture.
