Typical town centre Wetherspoons nice food, cheap beer and friendly staff!!! Just needed a few more staff to clean tables quicker so it looks more inviting as you come in.Outside seating area to the rear.
The three stars are only because of the owners attitude, as well as the ethic against dogs. Otherwise, apart from being very loud and crowded which is unavoidable, it's grand; great staff, very friendly, open and big venue, plenty of people to meet and a nice beer garden too. The food is lovely as with the pints, cheapest anywhere nowadays. There's also coffee and tea etc available as with any weatherspoons. I love how this particular venue takes its name from a local soon to be demolished building in which a man invented and introduced the plimsoll line on the side of all ships and boats, denoting salt and fresh water buoyancy, what's too heavy etc. It's something the world takes for granted like Whitby's inventor of the crows nest, but seldom acknowledged. I appreciate the historic value of spoons I've been in, and also informative framed illustrations of the history of the area too
Went for breakfast that is always good. Free refills on tea and coffee. Overall really good. Do think a little refresh to the decor would be nice as it has been the same since it opened years ago.
Another excellent experience. Came in at tea-time, Friday, for a meal with mam and dad. Quite busy but served extremely quickly by an effecient and friendly member of staff. The meals came super quick and the fish was hanging over the plate. Great quality and value for money and just as tasty if not better than the fish shops in town. Cannot praise the staff enough, keep up the outstanding work!
Excellent value for money, staff are brilliant. Chef can only cook what he is given and in my opinion all weatherspoons have terrible chips. So dry and floury and tasteless. Everything else I've ordered is spot on.
A friend was forced to leave after 9pm on a Friday evening for wearing a smart pair of shorts. The staff refused to use any discretion regarding their arbitrary policy, then refused to call the manager, insisting she was on her break. Avoid.
It's a wetherspoons so literally cannot be knocked for value, especially in these times. However in terms of the actual venue it is the poorer cousin of many wetherspoons venues in terms of seating options, layout, etc. Food is good, coffee good, beer good. Staff super efficient. The mighty redcar!
Good Wetherspoons, friendly locals and a charity internal Bike ride. These places are becoming the equivalent of the old Social Clubs with decent prices and warm friendly areas.
Just your regular weatherspoons eatery and drinks. Cheep beer in relation to most other bars and the food is stock item normals. Usually a good atmosphere and steady flow of customers, outside in the nice weather is good.
Date night at Plimsoll line. Food was great staff provided quick service. Would have preferred a separate seating area. All COVID guidelines were in place. Only thing was we were sat near front entrance and lots of people were having a good time a very loud. But it’s expected being a busy place. Affordable, great food and cocktails, highly recommended.
