Love this small, typically English town. There are plenty of good restaurants and Windsor Castle of course. I went there for a hike and except great surroundings, beautiful weather we also were very lucky to see many deers and moses. I absolutely loved it and will be coming back in spring.
Lovely spot to come for a drink and bite before or after visiting Windsor Castle. We had the chicken and bacon pot pie, and it was delicious! They have a really good selection of beers on tap & in bottle. The decor is so cute, I just loved sitting in here! It’s also dog-friendly and even has a menu for dogs!
A disastrous experience and even though location is great best give it a miss. Cold and insufficient roast beef not worth the hassle. Some staff quite rude and unfriendly. Went there on Fathers Day for roast. Were served sharer starter with main course and when we said we do not want them together staff were not happy. Took main course away and served same later and it was cold. Three beef roasts were a joke, see picture- they were thin slices of beef which would normally be to make a beef sandwich. All items were cold on the plate. When we questioned at the amount of roast beef, we were told they were short of roast beef. Well if you don’t have food then take it off the menu. The mousse dessert stated served with ice cream but served with custard, unbelievable. Overall not a great place to eat and one or two members of the staff badly need retraining . Be aware.
Lovely pub just underneath the castle, a really nice section which looks more like a restaurant, and another "pubby" section with screens showing football and tables for food. Very impressive decor, lovely food, average pub prices, only 1 option for kids roast - and it was very chewy beef - this would be my only criticism. Gorgeous looking pizzas!!!!
Fabulous location, lovely ambiance, yummy food but really annoyingly poor service attitude especially the female staff. A little smile and attentiveness wont hurt. The loveliest service attitude is the staff with long hair, headband and wearing the stylish suspenders. Thank you for your cheerful demeanor and taking my cappuccino order.
Roated potatoes looked anemic, raw inside and generally tasted like they have been cooked 4 days ago. The skotch egg was super underwhelming - hard boiled egg that is almoust blue on the edges. We had to sit at a tiniest table next to the doorsuper cold because everything else was “booked”. Of course, no people arrived at any of the reserved tables until we finished with our meals. No fish and chips, no healthy options like a salad, no nonalcoholic beer.
Enjoyed the atmosphere very much, love the layout, the food was great and staff very friendly, even though they must have been tired after long day of the Queen's funeral. Will definitely come back again.
Alot of English history associated with Windsor. The castle is to focal point and costs 26.50 pounds per adult to look through the state appartments with royal collection and St Georges chapel. There was a queue for tickets. A wander around the castle with a view of the lo ng walk was a great way to spend an afternoon.
This place is so noisy - there’s sports TVs everywhere and volume too loud - everytime you get up you feel you’re blocking someone’s view of racing cars or football. The volume was too loud but was turned down after someone complained. Biggest complaint was the miniature Sunday roast - the smallest, meanest, poorest value for money I’ve ever come across. The gravy jug diameter was bigger and the Yorkshire pudding roughly twice the size of the chicken - see pic. I didn’t know budgies could be roasted. Complained - they gave me another piece “the chef doesn’t normally do that” I was made to feel lucky by the waiter but it was so dry. Wouldn’t go back or recommend. Food definitely needs improving. There are however amazing views of Windsor castle from the beer garden. Summary - go for a drink and admire the views. Eat elsewhere.
We were visiting the Castle and decided to have a Sunday roast. Despite the pub being half-empty, the waitress sat us at tiny table, which was not big enough for 2 teas and 2 roasts. Food was not great. Potatoes semi-raw, pork seem to have been in the fridge for a while and just reheated. Scotch egg was very hard and the egg seem to have cooked a while back. The pub is beautiful though. I would have a pint, but definitely not food here
