Had a great family meal here! The food is delicious, large portions, so don't over-order, and so are the cocktails. The staff are lovely, friendly and helpful. The restaurant is all on one level, so accessible, including the toilets. They have a beautiful garden, with outside seating for the good weather, and an awning protecting part of it. They also have a kitchen garden, where they grow some of the ingredients. The menu is not too extensive to be manageable, and changes from time to time. There are themed nights, which can get very busy. They have a separate menu for over 60s, and an allergy menu. The decor is shabby chic/vintage, with paintings and photos of local places. It is not the easiest place to find, but well worth it. I recommend that you book well ahead if you want to visit on the weekend.
We go here a lot. Both my boys work there. The customer service is excellent and not just because I'm 'mum' , everyone is treated beautifully. The food is outstanding and that def has nothing to do with my mum status. The hugs , kisses and warm welcome do have something to do with being mum but everyone is welcomed with opened arms. I had been craving my museelsmforn5 weeks but life got in the way . They were worth waiting for :
This was our second time here and our first for food, so we were looking forward to our meal as we'd had a long journey, to get the ferry to Belfast. However, our initial greeting was poor and not very friendly by the front of house gentleman, so not a good start. The rest of our server's were lovely and friendly, so that helped it to 3*. The food was lovely but very pricey, but that seems to be the norm these days, we also ordered an extra drink which didn't arrive, so another disappointment in the whole experience. As for the atmosphere that was okay due to it being a Saturday night, it was always going to be lively.. Will we go again? No is the answer, would we recommend? Sadly no, in our opinion this place may have lost its way and needs a refreshment, pardon the pun, but no different from many other venues we have gone to recently.
My only regret is that I haven't been sooner. Possibly the best roast I've had in my life, let alone eating out. Decided to be a bit of a piggy, and I went for the trio of meat roast dinner. You'd think it was expensive at £21 but when you see the sheer amount of food, and then taste the top notch quality, well, £21 is a bargain. The standout for me was the veg, which was cooked to perfection. Broccoli, spinach, and mange tout made up most of it, but there was a carrot and swede purée that was really truly special. Really nice touch by bringing out three sauces to accompany the meat - mint for the lamb, horseradish for the beef, and apple for the pork. I could wax lyrical about the food all day but finally want to mention the staff. They squeezed us in on a busy Sunday evening without a reservation at peak time, and service was excellent. Everyone was super friendly. Atmosphere was great. This is somewhere you could take your mates, and also take your nan. Maybe at the same time. We will be back.
We were in the area and.opted for lunch at The Refreshment Rooms, parking was easy. On entering we were greeted warmly and seated quickly, it's so nice to see a pub that's kept it's history instead of stripping it all away for the carbon-copy approach. We opted for ham hock and caramelised onion quiche with new potatoes, salad and slaw, also bacon and brie panini, fries, salad, an acceptable wait time gave us a chance to chat to the lovely lady who seated us, again such a nice change to have someone actually engage with us as customers. Our server was pleasant, I'm abit old skool so I'd politely suggest leaving the gum for when you're not serving, thankyou. Food was presented nicely and looked appetising, we weren't disappointed, the quiche meal was very tasty as was the bacon and brie, we don't usually opt for dessert but the jaffa cake trifle sounded moreish - it was! Prices are reasonable and it's refreshing to have a business that obviously has a chef who takes pride in their work. The phone hardly stopped ringing and the place was filling up as we left so I would suggest booking a table particularly at weekend. Our only downside was that we couldn't stay longer although we did have a wander down the slipway before the rain set in, we enjoy places that keep it real. Great job, thankyou for an enjoyable visit.
Our dining experience with a 2-course meal for two people was truly exceptional. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was inviting, with soft lighting and a cozy atmosphere. The service was impeccable, as the staff was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. For our first course, we had separate starters. The flavors were well-balanced, and the presentation was impeccable. Each bite was a culinary delight, setting the stage for what was to come. The main course was the highlight of the meal. We chose different dishes, and both were cooked to perfection. The ingredients were fresh, and the chef's expertise shone through in every bite. The portion size was just right, leaving us satisfied but not overly full. Overall, the 2-course meal was a memorable culinary journey. It was a fantastic afternoon, and we left with smiles on our faces. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a special meal out.
Lovely place, friendly attentive staff and food really fresh & tasty. There was a large group of us Family birthday and although the restaurant was really busy, we were accommodated so well. Would definitely recommend and will return, thank you!Food: 5/5
A great place right on the Mersey, great to watch the ships go by and enjoy a pint of excellent beer. The food is good, but my personal favourite and top recommendation is the traditional Scouse, served with bread and butter. Absolutely outstanding. There are wonderful vegetarian options too, as these are freshly prepared, please check the website for this week's vegetarian options. Dietary restrictions: Please inform staff of any allergies or dietary requirements Parking: Street parking, can be busy Wheelchair accessibility: There is great wheelchair access
Best sandwich I've eaten for a long while. It was made with Turkish flat bread ,which is the nicest softest bread . Proper chunky chips on the side. Pate very tasty again served with Turkish flat bread Parking: First come first served could be a long way up the street if disabled
I have been here before but it is worth saying again just how delicious the food was! Loads of staff buzzing around and any will help if they can. Honestly one of the nicest dinners I've had whilst eating out, and my mum really enjoyed her scouse!Food: 5/5
