A real mixed bag. Some of the food was excellent, some not so. For example, the filo parcels were delicious, but the wrap was filled with red onion when it had specifically been asked to be not included, and the vegetarian meatballs were plain bad. The service was pretty brusque, even though the restaurant wasn't busy at the time. Overall, not that impressive for the price paid. The bill for two came to just under £60 with just water.
Service was initially quick but when we had finished our meal we waited for quite a while trying to get the attention off staff for our bill. Some had gone on a break but this should not have mattered as it was afternoon and there were very few patrons left. The food on the other hand was brilliant , we had the lunch menu and I had a greek plate with lamb meatballs , everything was beautifully cooked , there was also plenty of it . We ordered a bottle of wine and were really pleased with our choice . The lunch menu was incredible price for what we had . We will be back
The lunch menu is a really good, choice of crudités or Greek bread to start with with a sauce of your choice and a choice of main No Souvlaki Wraps halloumi skewers, pork or chicken, this comes with rice, side salad and tzatziki and bbq sauce. The chicken was a bit dry and the rice seemed not fresh, the kind were you pre cook, out in the fridge and then reheat later on, tasted just like the one I would make at home for my meal preps. This sadly brings the score down, other than that, price was reasonable, portions were great and staff were nice, we were sitting inside and they happily relocated us to an outside table after asking.
Stopped at the real Greek to sample their lunch menu. We ordered the souvlaki wrap and side, mine was was the lamb meatballs with minted yogurt and a side of pourgouri bulgar wheat and my partner had the falafel with tahini and aegean slaw. The lamb meatballs were very dense and had a good flavour, you only got 3 in the flatbread wrap but it was adequate for the portion. The flatbread was crisp and fluffy with a meagre smear of mint yogurt, some slices of tomato and red onion and a handful of chips. The side was a pourgouri which was bulgar wheat cooked in tomato and it was absolutely delicious. My partners falafel in her wrap had a lovely herbal flavour, crisp exterior and fluffy internal, a bit disappointing few chips in hers when you compare directly, consistency isn't quite there. The aegean slaw was crunchy and fresh with a light dressing, very refreshing. For a Monday lunch time the place had a few tables so wasn't too busy, the service was efficient and friendly. Food didn't take too long to come out. Portion size was perfect for a lunch. We enjoyed it and would love to come back to sample a few more items from the menu in future.
I can’t believe I paid 9£ for 3 prawns 9£ for 3 pieces calamari and 9£ for 1 tentacul or less of octopos was like rubber horrible taste 9 £ for 3 pieces of chicken .greak salat was only tomato’s cucumber and onion and one slice cheese .no olives and pepper . The worse portion I eat in my life ! I lose my time and money : if you don’t believe me try them see you here after .
I enjoyed this. Good vibe, good atmosphere, the food was good - Not wow, but it was nice. The service was OK although I think it could be better as we were waiting for long periods of time for someone to take our orders each time we wanted something. And we eventually had to go pay our bill in front because no one came to ask us if we wanted anything else. We sat for quite a while waiting in between. Either than that, it was a good experience. I would prefer to try other Greek restaurants in the uk though going forward.
The Real Greek at the West Quay complex in Southampton is a great find. Delicious, fresh and flavoursome food. There are plenty of great choices on the menu to suit everyone. Good wine and beverages too. The service is very good and the courses came to the table in good time. We liked it so much we dined there again the next night too. Vegetarian options: I tried the vegetarian Dolmades and they were delicious, as was the flatbread and Fava dip - scrumptious!!
First time eating at the real Greek and will certainly come back! At first we were confused with the menu as we didn't know what style it was. But after an ask with the waitress we got an idea. Food cane out tapas style which was perfect, felt like a cream tea. Cold and hot meze were delicious. Especially the meatballs. The cheesecake was perfectly light and sweet. Would of liked to eat outside as it was a nice night out, but it was already packed. Maybe next time :
Beautiful restaurant, with nice decor. Service was excellent and fast. Delicious food the only note is on the prawn dish - it's mostly bulgur with few pranws. We tried the frozen margarita, refreshing!Food: 5/5
Really tasty, fresh ingredients and good service, oh and lunch time special prices were really enticing.Food: 5/5
