One big scam and does not deserve 1 star. I would recommend everyone not to go with these. I’ve been paying £18 a month for 2 years and twice I’ve called out for RAC’s help and twice has been nothing but trouble. From terrible attitude from the people who answer the calls to the patrols and to the garages they use. In August rac was called as there was a knocking sound on my car and to be told there is nothing wrong so I thought ok he knows his job.. it’s now March and still having the same problem but way way worse the patrol said it’s the shock absorbers and I need new ones and i was covered by my rac cover and needed to be done as soon as possible. I had to wait 2 weeks for it to go into the garage as it needs to be an rac garage (I am covered for parts and labour) finally got it to the garage which was 30 minutes from my home. I had a phone call at 11 in the morning telling me what was wrong with my car (shock absorbers) which I told them in the first place and that they are waiting for rac to email back to say if I am covered (I was told I was covered by the patrol) phoned back at around 4:30 as I needed to arrange a lift and had not heard nothing to be told that the garage have not touched the car because they are waiting for the RAC to reply as they were deciding if I was covered as they needed to see pictures and was told I’m most likely not covered as it’s at the end of its wear time (even though I called them in August) I needed my car fixed ASAP so decided to take the car from the garage and pay else where and the lady in the garage would not give my car keys to me unless I paid £24 I asked why do I have to pay when nothing has been fixed and was told it was because they ‘looked at it’. Absolute terrible service all round. I’m a young student and money down from a garage I didn’t want to go to in the first place and i would never go with RAC again it’s one big money grabbing scam

Dear RAC, We have been members with you for 14 years, and today the only time I really needed your service, you totally let me down. I have had the tradgey of my baby passing away this week. On to of this my van breaking down. But I thought to my self it’s ok I’m covered for the van. The attitude of your driver that came out to see me can only be described as appalling, we just needed help and I could tell he was not interested as soon as he arrived. He was abrupt, and rude, he could not even be bothered to say hello. On top of this there was a 59min wait on the phone which is not acceptable. The whole experience have been awfal. I actually ended up going to a local recovery for that were fantastic and cheaper, than the money I have wasted with you. I will now recommend to people to ,save time and money googling a local recovery place and getting the out. This will be cheaper for you in the long run, and the service will be better. To the driver, you have to remember you attitude is not protecting your business, no business is safe these days, and with out going the extra mile for people, you will not survive. I guess this is the typical example of getting to big and losing touch of valuing your coustomers. I will be persuing this else where. RAC? Hopeless. This is the first time I've used my RAC breakdown membership and I am not impressed. I was told there would be a 3 hour wait before anyone would come out. This is in the centre of a city, not some remote wilderness. I was told that they were busy. Well, get more vans on the road because 3 hours is not acceptable and not what I paid for when I joined. I phoned a local tyre place and they came out ten minutes later and replaced my tyre - no extra charge for the call out. Brilliant. I called RAC back to cancel the callout. It took another 10 minutes for them to answer the phone. Later, I called customer care to make a complaint. Guess what? It's 4pm and they have all gone home. No wonder they can't run a rescue service. Hopeless. Avoid at all costs.

Expletives are not strong enough to describe how bad RAC Insurance are. Avoid them and pay a bit more. They are terrible
