I have been a loyal member of the RAC for many years and have never had the need to utilize their services until yesterday. After attending the Steelhouse Live Festival, a three-day rock festival in South Wales, I returned to my car, packed it up, and attempted to start it, but unfortunately, it would not start. I promptly contacted the RAC through their app, and within two hours, Daryl, ID 1876, came to our aid. He swiftly diagnosed the issue and replaced my battery free of charge due to my battery cover insurance. Thanks to Daryl's expertise, we were back on the road in no time. Daryl demonstrated the utmost professionalism, politeness, and clarity in explaining the situation. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the RAC for providing such exceptional service.
Absolutely horrific experience with RAC. My husband waited on the hard shoulder of the M5 with no shelter for 10 hours in the blistering sun. His phone ran out of battery at hour 5 so I was having to call on his behalf before a police officer stopped and allowed him to charge his phone. We were promised multiple times that someone would be with him within 45 minutes. In the end we cancelled the call out and paid a private company to tow us home at 10pm as no garages were open.nOnly for an RAC private contractor to arrive at the same time because RAC hadn’t cancelled him.nAbsolute shambles for such a well renowned company. Would never recommend.
The company hook you in with a low rate which the goes up extortionately after the first year.nI was a member of the RAC for 1 and when my renewal came through the price had not just done up it had more than tripled in price for the 2nd year! I attempted to call the helpline and had one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. The member ship was cancelled and have so far been sent 7 letters from the RAC so far asking to renew... I'm guessing the membership cost hike is to pay for all the letters they send...
The water pump went while on a trip and then the #RAC & its contractors came along and destroyed the car. After they left us stranded for around 5hrs, they then lost the car for about 12hrs and found it in Taunton, miles away from where we left it in Bristol. I think someone must of tried to drive the car with no water pump and maybe damaged other parts and fuel was also missing and we had a dead battery that was only fitted a few weeks ago.nnEventually the RAC contractors found the car, brought it back, and while still hitched to the transporter the driver left his handbrake off and the lorry rolled down the hill, this caused a jerk o the from of the old girl and damaged the bumper ect . the lorry then kept rolling and hit a car, damaged a wall etc etc.nnSide picture was taken a few months ago, the other two is what the RAC and its contractors did to the car.nnI am no longer with the RAC and I recommend you cancel your RAC membership and move to ''Driver Guardian''
I have been a member for 24 years and have called them out twice, once when I left my keys in boot ,it was at my home, I didn't have home cover and because of that I got a £80.00 charge. The other time it was Winter I my battery was flat. I noticed the cost has been rising year on year. This year the increase was the last rise for me so I cancelled my membershipnI asked why the cost keeps going up,and by so much it's for technology ,yes that's improving? You have to do everything online instead of human contactnI have now Joined the AA and for half the cost
