Went here for lunch one weekend in October. Was tempted by one of the previous reviewers who, to quote, said 'the fish and chips and ale pie were banging'. Well, they certainly were! Best fish and chips we'd had for some time. The other meals we ordered were also as good. Lots of outside seating here. Quite cozy inside. Staff were very nice and helpful. Would certainly recommend if in Maldon looking for a good meal.
Great location views, sat outside in the amazing weather - no wait for a table, only a short wait to order food at the bar. I was told the food would be a 30 minute wait before ordering, but it was actually lea than that in the end. Fair selection of food & reasonably priced too. I've lived in Maldon 24 years but never been before because it always looks too packed - but with enough space & staff it didn't feel that busy - will definitely be back again.
The Queen's Head in Maldon is a lovely pub, right on the river. Great bar, great food, relaxing and dog friendly! Would certainly recommend a visit!
Very patient as we were about an hour late arriving due to M25 travel issues. Food arrived quickly and was generous portions. Beautiful views. If our family remain living in this area we'll definitely visit again.
Looking for a spontaneous Sunday roast and wasn't disappointed. They were very busy but found us a lovely table. The food was tasty and service was great. A bit of a wait after ordering for the food but they were very busy. Lovely festive feel.
What a welcoming and friendly place for lunch. Took my dad in his wheelchair and asked for very specific seating for him. No problem! Helpful staff and a good lunch too. It's very difficult to get dad out but we'll certainly go back. We've tried other local places and this beats them all hands down. Thank you
Very popular place. The food was excellent. We stopped for lunch and had the crayfish sandwich. It came with chips, salad and coleslaw, very generous portions. Will certainly go back.
Had drinks and chips outside the chips were delicious. Very quick and friendly service. Started to get chilly went inside managed to get a table. Lovely welcoming atmosphere.
We visited without a booking but we're seated in the bar area and ate in the bar with a baby in tow which the staff were great about. There was a fantastic range of Adnams beer on tap and the 2 x ploughmans were excellent and massive! Will be visiting again to try their hot food next which looked and smelt great.
Baffled by the “great food” reviews because we visited recently and the food was awful. Microwaved, undercooked and massively under seasoned. When we complained, there was no mention of a refund and instead we were told “perhaps the chefs having an off day.” Wouldn’t go back.
