Just what a country pub should be. Quaint & cozy with a roaring fire, welcoming staff & good food. We were here for lunch & had the jumbo fish & chips…delicious. The pub does have a car park but we walked from Heybridge Basin. A great 5 mile walk, mostly flat, along the coastal path. There are a couple of cafes about 2 miles out from Heybridge Basin, so you can break the walk if required. Beware that, unless you want to walk back as we did, the buses are infrequent & taxis aren’t always available. It’s an awesome 10 miles round trip walk with a great pub lunch in the middle.
Such a nice place, a gorgeous church next door and a great menu, meals were a good size and price. Great atmosphere as well, staff were lovely, definitely an amazing place to have lunch
Lovely pub. Stopped off here during a 10 mile walk around Goldhanger. Friendly staff and a fair selection of ales. Thinking of visiting again for a meal in the near future
Very friendly staff, great selection of beers and not to mention the Sahara nuts. Yet to try the food, but others around us seemed very happy with their meals. Good ambience with some music from our younger days. Highly recommended
Friendly, warm, cosy pub with great menu and food lookedfab. Nice outdoor space too. Staff were really lovely. We only stopped for liquid refreshments during our dog walk but going to return!!
Taken there for birthday celebration meal and I'm glad I wasn't the one paying. It's just a basic pub in a little village. Parking is a very small area with lots of pot holes so unsuitable for wheelchair users. You can however park on the road. Cosy fire awaits inside if the weather outside is a bit grim. Three or four separate areas to eat. Staff very friendly and attentive. Meals were all served fairly quickly, nice+hot. One of our party had the chicken pie+there was more pastry than meat and probably a bit too large for the average person..but in general average pub meal.
We were very disappointed in the service and the length of time it took between courses.we as a party of eight who had preordered our menu choices had Hard vegetables some of the mains were not up to scratch we were sat in a cold corner with little heating where the main room had a beautiful open fire . After complaining we were given our drinks for free but a smile would have gone a long way. Such a shame as have had some great times there.
This pub was recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint. The food was excellent and we will return again when in the area
Charming beautiful pub which serves delicious food. Lovely friendly atmosphere. Highly recommend and can not wait to return!
Great food and a nice range of beers and wines in a beautiful, old, original inn, lovely staff.
