Story

The Quarter opened in December 2016 and is based in the ‘Cultural Quarter’ of Hanley town centre, the largest urbanised town of Stoke-on-Trent. This emerging area of the town was missing a food establishment that could seamlessly bring together the culinary, drinking and entertainment needs of the people in the city and so The Quarter was born.

At The Quarter our doors are open from 8.00am until midnight 6 days a week with events on a Sunday each month. We are a Café by day and present a quirky home-style bistro menu in the evening. This is knitted together with a Delicatessen that runs right through our trading ours, providing a solution to your eating needs on the go, or sitting in, with time to spare or no time at all.

Our service ethos is to provide a warm, safe and positive environment where you can ‘eat, drink and listen.’ This is a family run business, employing a local team of people whom all have one common goal which is to make sure you have a wonderful experience from the moment you walk through our doors. We want you to take away with you a sense of enjoyment that lasts until you return to us again.

We offer quality coffee and tea from the highly recognised and awarding winning Matthew Algae and are licensed to sell alcohol to accompany your dining in experience. Our bar provides wines from around the world, exquisite and bespoke bottled beers, a variety of spirits as well as a premium cocktail and ‘fizz’ menu. Whatever your ‘tipple’ we will aim to provide this for you.

To bridge the gap of eating and drinking with entertainment we aim to provide a diverse selection of live artists and recorded music that encompasses the ‘listen’ part of our establishment. We will present live performances in the areas of music, poetry, comedy, debate, radio and recorded music. Our entertainment programme is organic and progressive and as long as we can ‘listen’ to it we will create a platform for it. The entertainment will evolve as we understand our customers and we will take the lead from you; so if you have an idea for a performance, know somebody who performs or want to do it yourself then we are completely on board to support this. We are excited to get our venue known for it’s diverse appreciation for the performing and creative arts.
