Typical pub in a village that was very quiet for a Saturday evening. The portions are quite generous but the quality is average to low.
With an evening in Stranraer before the early morning ferry our family of 3 adults were looking for somewhere simple and unfussy to eat. We found a warm welcome at The Pub and really good food - macaroni cheese, chicken tacos and steak sandwich were all excellent and filling. Sky Sports screens everywhere but not too loud if you’re not interested! No real ale but a selection of lagers, ciders, prosecco/wine and Guinness plus a keg John Smiths.
Myself and my partner came over from belfast and if we can recommend anywhere for a decent drink and unreal craic it's here. The owner Shane I think thats his name is a legend and nothing was too much for him he was making us cocktails that weren't even on the menu. Very cheap also highly recommended
Called in with 2 buddies on way back to Ferry after a fishing trip. Couldn't fault this place. Nice traditional pub with good reasonably priced food and drink. The waitress even called back to our table to check everything was OK. I recommend the burger, better than I've had in other establishments costing a great deal more.
THE BEST pub in Stranraer. Great service and top selection of drinks for the alcoholics and the non alcoholics amongst us. Magners Zero and Beavertown for us. Guy behind the bar also I noted did a grand job explaining the difference between a lager, beer and cider to a group of Europeans and ended up selling them one of each and done food ! This guy knows how to run a pub. Note miles better than the Grapes lol
