On a day trip from Nottingham to see the castle ruins and decided to try this place so I could see the historic building. Wood timbers and cozy rooms made me decide to stay for a pint (or two) and Sunday Roast. Ale was great and so was the meal. Thank you for putting the gravy on the side so I could meter out my own rather than drowning the plate - well done. Great building, friendly staff, fantastic food and drink..... thanks!

Lovely atmosphere, with a nice outside area. Seating is good, food is delicious and does a decent range of real ales. Drinks can be a bit pricey though.

Lovely "Olde World" sort of pub near Newark town centre. Inside it is one of those interesting old buildings where there are small rooms and corridors. The occasional step to negotiate etc. They serve really quite nice food too so a good place to go for an evening out with a few friends.

Hits the spot perfectly! Good environment- excellent food especially the pizzas real ale pub, friendly and efficient staff! Can't fault it in anyway
