Story

Dating back to the 18th century, The Portaferry Hotel has been lovingly renovated and extended to offer guests 14 individually decorated en suite bedrooms complete with antique furniture with some rooms offering stunning views across Strangford Lough.

Guests can relax and enjoy the views in our private residents lounge situated on the first floor, or in our main reception area with its warm open fire. We just popped in for a coffee on Xmas eve, and to get a feel of the place for a possible future stay. The front of house lady was lovely, but oh dear the waiting staff were rude, we weren't made to feel welcome at all, the young lady who eventually took our our order certainly didn't give us a smile, we might have well been invisible, then the young lad who served us near enough threw our coffee's on to our table, then trying to pay by the same 2 individuals who'd served us was also a dreadful experience, the worst service we've ever had in visiting NI in over 14 years! We won't be going back and we definitely won't be booking a room if this is the service you get!
Just had dinner here for the first time in a long time. Definitely won't leave it so long before we are back. The food was first class! Delicious!
A birthday lunch on Friday. Lovely food I had scampi fabulous. The other meals were great as well.. Excellent service. Had a table by the window and able to look across the lough in sunshine and watch the ferry.
Fantastic meal, great fish, cooked perfectly and sides were excellent, highly recommend
Staff very nice location lovely sea view....just a shame at the food they gave for price they cost chicken burger £18.00 an half the size I get out off a chip shop for £8.95 that a meal at that cost off living I understand but that is just put me off too even stop for a pint as I would b4 I get the ferry....I dont mind paying but that just can't come up too cost off living an there was five off us so just not my food over priced for very little the union ring in the middle was near bigger than the chicken fillet....what a shame from a lovely spot
