The only disappointing part of the experience was that we have not visited sooner! Honestly the best carvery I have ever had!! All the food was really well cooked, it tasted exactly like a good, hearty, homemade dish! There was so many options, and they were the best priced by far. I don't think I will touch a carvery from any other place but here from now on! The staff we lovely, even though they were obviously very busy, they were always attentive and approached with a smile. Looking forward to coming again soon.
Friendly staff, easy to follow guidelines in place. Only disappointment was no mention of reduced menu on the website which stated a homemade lasagne but when we arrived it was all quick meals burgers, chips, Fish. Completely understand why the reduced menu but maybe state it on your website so people don't get disappointed with the lack of choice.
A warm wonderful great place for all the family and friends to be also the food was lovely and big car park space.
We went for the carvery, there was a choice of 3 plate sizes I tried a large loads of meat and help yourself to veg and potatoes etc, so I did. The food was tasty and there was plenty of choice. The only let down was they ran out of glasses, guiness just ain't the same out of any other glass. But will definitely go back again.
I visited last night with my partner, they still have the same attentive and efficient staff, but the place has had a make over, which makes it feel more modern and bright. They must have a new chef too, as it is no longer really good pub grub, it is restaurant standard food, very well presented. This is definitely a great improvement on what was already good before. I had halloumi starter, Dorris had king prawns, both were faultless. I can not spell the main meal i had but it was a chicken and rice dish that tasted so much better than it sounds, and Dorris went for the jalapeño burger, which again was very pleasing. Definitely worth a five star. This post is an edit, the photos are of the old place, not the new. I can't delete them.
Nice pub. Bar area on one side and restaurant area on other. Outdoor seating out front but mainly a smoking area really. Spacious seating area out back which seemed to be used for family fun days. Carvery on Sundays. Didn't have any but looked good enough, bog standard by looks of it. Good beer though not much choice for ale drinkers. Coffee was good apparently.
Ordered a vegan roast dinner to be delivered. Came with vegan tart, broccoli and carrot & swede mash, NO roasties the website said it does. My partners came with mash, roasties, stuffing, cauliflower cheese and a Yorkshire pudding as well as what I had plus meat and were the exact same price so was obviously underwhelmed by it.
Recently moved to the area, have been to the Plough 4/5 times for food or just drinks. Very friendly staff, great food. We will definitely go back.
Went for my birthday 29th November for late lunch. Chef Tony who is Amazing recommended the lamb rum, absolutely amazing 10 out of 10 and he gave me a lovely birthday cake too. Been coming to this place for 20 years and I have to say that Tony is the best chef here now, he's a bit crazy too and very loveable!
A picture speaks a thousand words! Ironically, that's the number of stars I'd give it if I could! Tony the chef is a legend! Keep up the good work guys! I'm grateful to have you as my local
