Had a fish n chips supper with the family on Friday, and I'd recommend The Pelican any day! Their service was outstanding, the whole place was very clean, well run and with super bathrooms. There's also a disabled/mother and baby toilet on the ground floor. I chose Cod and Chips with mushy peas, and the batter was really tasty and light with just the right amount of crunch to it. Next time I'm in North Devon I'm definitely coming back for more! The grandchildren had generous portions but they enjoyed it so much they finished the lot. Vegetarian options: There was a good range of vegetarian options available. Kid-friendliness: Super-friendly to children, with colouring sheets and little buckets of crayons. The staff were kind to my grandchildren, taking their orders directly, and offering sensible tasty options for food and drinks. The staff treated my teenage grandson in a respectful, welcoming manner. There was no pressure to make their meal choices or to finish their meals quickly. Parking: Park around the right hand side of the building. The ground is a little uneven but perfectly accessible, with a wheelchair friendly entrance. Wheelchair accessibility: There is ample room for wheelchair access, and a disabled toilet facility on the ground floor level. The restaurant is clean throughout, so no problems with door handles, edges of tables etc.
My father-in-law took my wife and I here!! All I can say is Wow!! Portion size was simply amazing! The fish and chips was the best I've ever had. I hope to go back soon. The staff were amazing and very friendly!

We had fish and chips from this establishment for the first time and was not at all disappointed. Great food, great portions at a great price and delivered by great professional staff. The accolades posted around the premises are well and truly deserved.
Plenty of parking. Good size menu with burgers fish all at good prices. I had the pelican burger that came with chips and I found it very tasty with good quality beef. 3 others dinning with me had fish chicken burger and fish salad all were good portions and quality ingredients. Staff were very friendly and efficient. A great customer experience and loved the food
Simple, easy, delicious. A truly high flying restaurant that ends up among my favourites, the fish is always beautifully cooked and flaky. A classic fave for many families around the area Parking: Parking around the side, may be tight for larger cars but sufficient space overall
Best fish and chips in barnstaple. Nice restaurant, clean with plenty of seating. Fish was good quality, lovely cod,plaice and fish cakes. Good sized plates and good service. Good to eat in with a takeaway next to the restaurant. Disabled parking and toilets. Nice for families.Food: 5/5
Best fish and chips in the area hands down. Service was friendly and helpful, prices reasonable, service was also fast. Fish was really fresh. I've been here a few times in the past and I felt this was the best visit. Also bonus points for being open on a bank holiday. The salad option with fish below was really great for my parents and as you can see from the photo it was presented really well and tasted great.
The Pelican is literally one of the best places on the planet. I love their fish, I love their chips, I love their sausages. And what I love the most is their JUICY FRIED CHICKEN!!! Especially the thigh pieces. Delicious and moist.
