Nice old school quiet country pub. Simple meals done pretty well, open fire (with a lazy cat) and an excellent house cask ale. There's restaurant seating but I'd go for the bar for the fire and the cat. Good ham egg and chips. Not too busy at lunch time. Recommended.

Had taken some friends up onto Dartmoor for the day and were looking for somewhere to have Sunday lunch. Came to the Oxenham just after three o'clock and although they had finished serving dinners they very kindly said that they could give us the set roast dinner. We all had the Roast Beef dinner which was lovely. This is truly an old pub with a lot of history it is obviously very popular also, there were a good variety of real ales.

Amazing historic building.. Lots of original features. Attentive staff.. more like a family. Really nice personalised rooms with quality decor. Lovely food and.great beer and wine-list. Run by the owners.. rare! Surrounding countryside is great. Quiet and cheerful.

Called in for lunch on a Saturday and was pleasantly surprised by the high standards of cuisine in this small, out-of-the-way country pub. Great surroundings, steeped in history and a very welcoming barman. Nice pub cat too. Service good, although small main bar filled up very quickly (just four tables), other rooms available. Will probably go back again if in the area.

Just off the old main A30. Ancient pub very welcoming lady of the house. Snack and soup delicious. Definitely will be back
