The only nice thing about the place it’s the aesthetic. Paid £14 for a tiny portion of food that it wasn’t even hot at all. It felt more like I paid for cold leftovers, even though it was only lunch time. The food it’s extremely overpriced and definitely not worth and their staff are also quite rude.
Food tastes average but very pricey! Sausage roll costs £7.95 and wasn’t very tasty for the price. Ambience appeared lovely at first glance but it isn’t until you experience being customer yourself that you realise it isn’t that great a restaurant after all. First off, the layout of the restaurant itself is very confusing as there are few counters and no clear signage of which counter to pay at. The male cashier at the end was unfriendly and seemed so unhappy to be working there, didn’t even say a word at all! Place was also dirty with birds flying in and scoffing off the crumbs on the ground. Was about to sit on the table before one of the staff members said to “wait” as she needed to clean it first. Stood there with the tray waiting for a few minutes before she came back only to give the table a 2-second wipe. Quite honestly could have done it myself. Although food restaurant average the customer service in the area was really bad. Won’t be coming back here to dine again.
pretty building. food is gross. this “peri peri chicken” costed £13. it was plain chicken and woman asked if we wanted some sauce too and we were like sure. she then proceeded to put 2 drops of peri peri sauce on the side! imagine paying £13 for a dish that comes like that. go to pavilion cafe instead
18 quid for this and a pigeon in the inside eating area. Note the 18 quid gets you paper plates, plastic cutlery and takeaway cups- I reckon actual plates etc. are probably a helluva lot more eco friendly. Also really bad queues despite it being a weekday in termtime. This is one of the lower priced eateries on the site too- the sandwiches here cost a quid more than these croissants. A very small slice of cake cost over a fiver. I imagine the calories listed everywhere even for the tea isn't particularly helpful for anyone suffering an eating disorder either - if you're going to do that so the whole nutritional profile. As a type 1 diabetic carbs would be helpful, calories tells me zilch.
13 pounds for paella in flavourless orangy sauce, seafood barely there and portion so small, people do not have to feel guilty about much food waste. I'd rather donate the amount to one of the greenhouses in the garden instead.
A small queue on a Saturday was welcome but it's a bit anarchic once you're in there. Labelling was pretty bad...I saw what looked like a vegan wrap but there was no label or price. The staff member didn't know so had to ask his manager. Despite that, food was good. Remember to take your own bottle to fill up on water!
Expensive food poor quality sandwich fillings. If I'm gunna pay £20-£25 for 2 people baguette hot drink, crisp & choc bar. I expect a better quality ham and cheese not wafer thin cheap ham and a chewy baguette.Food: 2/5
Even by the standards of tourist trap eateries, this is one of the worst I've encountered. Not cheap, everything self serve, and extremely poor food safety, to the point that the cream served with the baked good purporting to be a scone had curdled and turned yellow from lack of temp control.
Not a bad cafe - good size and obviously well located for when you're in Kew Gardens. The choices of food/drink aren't great or plentiful, but they do the job. You can be queuing for a long time if it's busy, so the service is relatively poor. It's also expensive, but that's part of the Richmond borough experience!Food: 4/5
The staff and the service in the restaurant are excellent. But it is quiet over-priced and the food I had their vegan club is pretty average. The lighting is really good, though.
