Our go to pub in Baldock. Anywhere from 6-10 Cask ales on at a time, the majority of which are from local breweries. The Sunday roasts are exceptional booking is needed as they're often fully booked on a Sunday. Lovely big garden and dog friendly too.
Such a great pub. We celebrated my mums birthday here and they couldn’t have been better, from helping us with the birthday decorations, to sorting out the kids food first and keeping us very well hydrated. The Sunday roasts are delicious. Perfect pub for a pint and also a family dinner out.
Find it difficult to fault this pub. Great ales, and a good selection too. Decent food. Friendly locals. Staff who know what they are doing. Also live music. Importantly it feels like a pub, not the sort of over-commercialised place a lot of pubs feel like.
Had a petanque match at Orange Tree today. Good at half time to enjoy some warmth, drinks and tasty food. Pub busy with rugby watching clientele, but accommodated us happily.
Great selection of beer. Highly recommended
It was Balstock so there was a few colourful characters there but this did not distract from a really nice pub. The owner has gone to great lengths to make his customers and local community welcome and catered for. The staff were quick and efficient and the toilets were clean. I enjoyed my time there.
A fantastic family-friendly find - nice playground fenced in to the side of the beer garden, visible from inside and out, delicious food, friendly staff, and fine cask ales. Adults enjoyed good conversation while the kids tired themselves out playing.
Cosy, characterful place with fantastic food & a great variety of beers. The pub offers an array of handmade sausages as part of their menu. Myself & the husband ordered the sausages in yorkshire pudding his choice of sausages were Cumberland & mine pork & honey. Both were very tasty & packed with meat sorry to fellow vegetarians/vegans! & very much savoured. & The dish in itself was plentiful, although a little short on vegetables other than mashed potato, although I like plenty of other vegetables! All in all, a great visit. Such a shame its not more local to us!
Great outdoor, undercover petanque piste/music area. Lovely variety of food every week for our petanque winter league. Warm and inviting pub.
Food was really good, though seemed to get lots of veg to compensate for a smaller serving of meat on roasts. Huge Yorkshires! My son's burger bun was however sodden with grease from the onion rings on top that hadn't been drained long enough, so he had to take the top off and discard it. Service was reasonable, good selection of beers and ciders. Nice pub garden, though it was a shame that the kids play area was cordoned off and not in use.
