The Old Thatch Pub & Restaurant

The Old Thatch pub is located in the beautiful Dorset countryside between Ferndown and Wimborne and sits in the site of a former gatehouse to the Uddens estate dating back to the 17th century. It is the quintessential, English country pub with its own thatched roof, log fire and, as many of the locals will tell you, it’s very own ghost.

Open every day for lunch and evening meals serving traditional pub classics with locally sourced food cooked to perfection. The Old Thatch also features a large garden with outside seating and a car park.

We offer a selection of cask ales and quality draught beers with lagers and cider available. Sundays are dedicated to serving a great British roast dinner with all the trimmings.

Such wonderful food everytime we have been here... from the simple jacket potatoes to the beautiful venison steak... staff are very helpful and friendly making the whole visit enjoyable

Very nice pub like going back in time a 17th century pub lovely building, we had the Sunday carvery absolutely spot on one of the best we have ever had, and we eat all over the country and have had many many carveries. The staff so polite and Nicky makes you feel very welcome. Will definitely be coming here again.

A nice, homely pub that serves excellent food. However, when I was there last December for a company Christmas dinner, I was surprised to see that there was hardly anyone else in apart from our party. And because there was nobody in, they decided to close the bar at about 10.15, so we all left as well. A real shame that a very traditional pub doesn't attract the custom, so I wouldn't be surprised if it became yet another closed down pub.

Food is expensive, service is awful as they are so understaffed. They also got our food wrong- well I say wrong but we asked for brown baguette, and got white bread. When we told them this was wrong the kitchen said that there was no brown bread (so decided for us that we were going to have white bread...!). We sent it back and asked for white baguette. Prices have recently gone up, but the service and quality has gone down.
