Me and my partner and our two dogs came here for Sunday dinner. I can honestly say it was the best carvery I’ve possibly ever had. I had the cauliflower/veggie option with beetroot gravy. Was incredible! Best Yorkshire! My partner had the beef brisket and said the gravy is the best he’s had with a carvery. The staff were kind enough to give us some meat for the dogs, they also gave it 5 stars. Highly recommend, lovely place, lovely staff. Thank you
What a gem of a place! From the moment we arrived we were welcomed with sincere warmth and friendliness from Matt and Sparkles! It was a special surprise weekend to celebrate my husband's belated birthday. Our room was simply beautiful, double aspect stunning view right down the estuary. We wanted for nothing in our room, cosy, clean, fluffy towels, very comfy bed, spotless bathroom and a very well stocked tea/coffee, hot chocolate etc. We could not resist using the tempting log burner hot tub overlooking Fowey! Cold bottle of bubbles whilst soaking in hot bubbles, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was delicious and a lovely lady on hand to make sure you have all you need to start your day. We certainly weren't disappointed with our Sunday roast....it was delicious! We had the sharing roast......the meat just melted in your mouth, the gravy was so tasty. I judge a roast by the potatoes and they were spot on! I could go on but the best way to sum up the Old Ferry Inn is to simply say....JUST PERFECT FROM START TO FINISH. Absolutely would highly recommend and will return as soon as we can. Thank you to Paul and his dedicated team. Can't wait to see you all again soon.
We came there for the New Year to celebrate with my husband. The place is very beautiful and the view from the windows is wonderful. But the service and maintenance .. I just didn’t like it. We were alone for the new year for some technical reason, or as I understand it, there were no places where everyone celebrated or they forgot to put us on the list . although my husband told them in advance that we would be recorded and he was told yes .. that is, they put us in another hall of the restaurant. My husband and I sat together in solitude without music and shows. It was not very pleasant and we felt uncomfortable. They have a very expensive restaurant. And there, their local people have more privileges than visitors, much more! . I have always felt unbalanced. I can only recommend the view is very beautiful and there are beautiful places nearby where you can take a walk and a river and a ferry. The hotel is also very interesting inside and in the old style with a fireplace. I recommend to the organizer of the hotel to be more aware of the guests who are coming.!!
The Inn is in a great location with spectacular views over the river from our room and the dining rooms. Easy to get over to Fowey on the ferry and there is a lovely circular walk from the Inn. The food was exceptional - we enjoyed the roast on Sunday evening and Cornish tapas the following night. The staff were great - friendly and professional, and looked after us very well.
A fab few days here. Great location and great value for money . The two ladies that do breakfast service and the housekeeping are brilliant and really made us feel welcome. and Archie dog is the funniest dog ever. Highly recommend would definitely be back .Rooms: 5/5
The Old Ferry Inn was a real gem of a find. Loved the residents room which had big comfy sofas and a lovely view of the river plus outside seating. An honesty bar for a cheeky prosecco or beer was also available in the residents room too. Log fired hot tub on the decking had fantastic views. We were here in winter so it was lovely to enjoy being outside without freezing! Very peaceful and quiet. Lovely staff and great food too. Circular Halls Walk is a fantastic walk from here too with stunning views. Highly recommended.
Booked for Tapas menu which was then changed to Steak & Seafood …The food we had was lovely but service definitely lacking - our napkins were whipped away immediately we had finished our mains with no explanations … we then asked for desserts & coffee but told none available apart from lemon cake which was only served in the bar & not available at our table .. strange as desserts were available on the tapas menu on other evenings ?! Poor customer service & attitude from the barman especially when we queried an incorrect bill ….
A great riverside location with awesome views. The food and drink are great value, the rooms are lovely and the staff are very welcoming. Everything that you could ask for at a quintessential Cornish pub.Rooms: 5/5
Beautiful location overlooking the Bodinick ferry in a lovely little village. One of the few pubs in the area that isn’t tied to St. Austell Ales, so a more interesting selection of beers, including Tintagel. Choice of lovely old bar with open fire, or smart veranda overlooking the river. Bonus is they have their own micro-distillery with a cute little bottle shop, and serve their own spirits at the bar. Perfect stop off in the stunning ‘Hall Walk’ around the estuary. Beware, doesn’t open until 3pm weekdays Easter time.
I’ve just stayed here and it was lovely. The dining room has stunning views over the water to Fowey. Sharon was a wonderful waitress. Excellent.
