Lovely pub but was left very upset with the staff me and a friend visited on a Wednesday night to see some old friends due to it being EXAM SEASON we didn’t want an alcoholic drink my friend orders a coke hers is being made as soon as I ask for one they decide to id us ??? Fine. We go outside minding our own business and the man follows us outside constantly staring and comes up to ME ONLY and asks to search my bag for alcohol as a person of colour I was very upset and offended that my friend who isn’t wasnt searched why was I the only person who was needed to be? Won’t be coming back :
nice pub, very spacious so reliable if everywhere else is busy. Decently priced if you’re getting an ale £4.40 but our friends paid a shocking £6.60 for a Neck Oil so be careful what you ask for!
went on a thursday - the perfect pizza delicious vegan tuffle mushroom one and pint place - the live music was great too, anyone and everyone welcome to jump up and grab an instrument:
Really nice little pub, serve yummy pizza and good local atmosphere. Will be going back
Great, no pool table though. Hopefully in the future music can be played through a speaker to people outside too as they're so far away you can't hear it. If customers eating the artists they won't want to move despite wanting to see the performers play.
Friendly pub loved coming here when I lived near Clifton great place and great.
First time at the old England last night and I'm very happy to have finally find a hidden gem of Bristol! Went to see Football FC and a couple other acts and was blown away by not only the talent but also the stage set up and cosy smoking den outside. Drink prices middle ground, spending £4 for a fosters or they've got ales for £3.60. And when the night came to a close I thought I'd left my camera bag in the closed off smoking area, which the staff were very quick and friendly in assisting me having a look. Turns out I left it in another room... Appreciate the patience when dealing with ejits like myself, good stuff
Proper pub. Friendly staff, good beer, will be back.
It's a great pub for gigs, as they have a top quality PA there. I've seen many styles of bands and they've all sounded great! The choice of drinks is the usual stuff, with nothing too fancy. There's also a beer garden accessible from the room upstairs.
Have been here many times and loved the music events I have been to in the past, however feel really upset at interactions with staff I have had here, had a male staff member be really rude to my sister while she was ordering a drink. At the start of restrictions I donated to a crowdfunder to help keep it around for post covid, as it is my local pub. However tried tonight to go and had another upsetting encounter with a staff member after being ignored and then accused of breaking rules which were really unclear when me and a friend were attempting to follow rules! I really want to like it here but I always end up feeling unwelcome, I get that it must be such a stressful time for hospitality workers but I feel quite upset and put off ever going there again
