Fab food and lovely staff! Great selection of meat and veggie roasts, although the boys in our group could've done with a few more potatoes / veg perfect portion for me though. The Cadbury is also dog friendly, which was a nice surprise.
Would avoid for Sunday roasts if you want a decent experience. We had a 7 person booking for a birthday, booked a week in advance. On arrival we were told that there was in fact no table reserved for us and we should just grab one when there was one available, however the pub was very busy with only a couple of 2 person tables available. Luckily some other customers were lovely enough to move off their table to let us sit as a group, staff didn't help with this. Then we were told that there was no beef or chicken breast left. Most of us chose the lamb, however after ordering we were then informed that actually there wasn't any lamb left either. Staff were apologetic however this was a pretty poor show. So the only options were the vegan / veggie dishes. We ordered these and they were thankfully pretty tasty, especially recommend the vegan pork. However, the portion size was also rather small presumably because the kitchen had run out of most food in general. We couldn't quite get out head around how they could have advance bookings yet not plan to actually feed the customers. Might be fine to spontaneously eat here, might get lucky, but I wouldn't recommend booking / putting your faith in them catering to any event successfully. Edit: have emailed and they haven't responded, they clearly don't care.
Avoid, do not book a roast here. We're presuming it USED to be good to get a roast here, however it's definitely gone down hill. We booked in advance, with no table saved for us on arrival. There was no meat dishes left, only the vegan options left. This would have been fine if we received more than 2 handfuls of food each. £14 for essentially 10 bits of veg. Also suggestion to the chef, it could be nice if the food arrived warm to the table, as far as we're aware roast aren't served cold in most pubs. Other tables were also grumbling about their experience and the whole atmosphere felt off.
Food was very tasty just shockingly small for what you’d expect for £15. 1 Leg of chicken already ran out of breast by 1pm 3 small roast potato’s, 2 tiny carrots, a small parsnip and no greens. Haven’t eaten here for a few years, seems to have gone down hill a bit. Partners vegan roast was even smaller for the same price, had to ask for it to be topped up. We both left hungry and £40 down
A proper local community pub, always a great welcome from the manager every time we see him and always great bar staff. A nice big pub garden with loads of sun and our lunch today was delicious. Many thanks to all involved.
Best Sunday lunch I’ve had in ages. We had the beef and veg Wellington and everything was perfect. Best roasties I’ve had too. Staff were very friendly too. It did take quite a while to come but was, luckily, worth the wait. Outside space was a bit cold and heater wasn’t working.
Good, tasty food but served cold and missing several bits which it was sold as coming with no Yorkshire puds on two of the meals!?. Difficult to find servers to ask what was going ln, so got on with eating meals before it went cold. When we did manage to let servers know they were very apologetic but nothing knocked off, still ended up paying full price... Edit: they responded asking me to email them for a refund and compensation, I have emailed them three times and they have yet to respond... Dropping yet another star
Sunday roast was very underwhelming, waited 45 mins to order and more than an hour for food to arrive, half empty plates and fatty beef for nearly 17 pounds. A serious overpricing of the package.
Visited here with a group of friends and this was a pleasant and busy pub - did not know that this pub existed until I went and what a pleasant surprise The opening hours appear to be a s follows -: Monday 4 pm to 11 pm Tuesday 4 pm to 11 pm Wednesday 4 pm to 11 pm Thursday 4 pm to 12 am Friday 12 pm to 12 am Saturday 12 pm to 12 am Sunday 12 pm to 11 pm Hope that these times will help me - it can be busy with the tables as you enter but there is a bigger space at the back Pleasant surprise for my first visit and so local
Great bristol pub with a great atmospehere. Since the butcher I use popti and beast have taken over the kitchen the food is of a very high standard. Had the roast beef which was one of the best I've had out. Last night went for the new double bacon cheese burger which is two organic beef patties with raceltte cheese and a piece of gravy soaked bread in the centre. What an awesome burger... The price is £10.00 and on a Wednesday you get free entry to the quiz. Will be returning for sure.
