Stopped for lunch here on my way back home, had a really good giant yorkie, std pub fair but well priced and really welcomed.
The service was excellent and the staff were really lovely, both pleasant and helpful. We experienced a very chilled and relaxing atmosphere along with a wonderful array of dogs coming back and forth! Nice and welcoming to all!nHowever, the food was quite bland and tasteless with no one coming to ask any of us if we were enjoying our meals. This ping and ding type of dining was quite disappointing and in direct conflict to the wonderful atmosphere and diligent staff!
It was quiet for a Sunday, we decided to have my 65th birthday lunch at The Oak Tree, we had the Sunday dinner and not very good at all, we won't be going again, 3 staff behind the bar, ignored for a minuite a 2 whilst they was talking to each other, they could of at least acknowledged us but they didn't, the mashed potatoes was very lumpy, the beef wasn't cut from a joint of beef as you could easily tell from sight before taste, roast potatoes was hard skins, I can't think of one compliment.. I'm kicking myself now because I should of complained but no staff came over to us to ask how the dinner was even though they wasn't busy... personally I think who ever is in charge of staff maybe a course in social skills and food and hospitality.
Always a very tasty and enjoyable pub meal. Reasonable prices and a big selection of things to choose from.nnI always enjoy the macaroni cheese and the loaded hunters fries.nThe chocolate cake sundae for dessert was also very good.nnMy only complaint is they stop food service around 7ish so you have to get in there a bit earlier. Desserts are still served a little later on.
Almost missed this restaurant which is only 6 mins drive from home. Value for money deal: 2 lunch sets + 2 drinks = £20.79. Friendly family style service. I will definitely visit again.
