Lovely old pub with loads of character. We have been meaning to visit for years but it's always been shut. Not now, the new landlady Simone told us she is open all day. We stopped for food which was very reasonably priced. I had a pint of prawns which I haven't seen for years since I lived by the seaside. My husband had fish with hand cut chips. The food was great. The new owners are really friendly and welcoming and it's super dog friendly. Well worth a visit
Visited here today 01-04-23 having previously been recommend to visit by someone out-of-area. Wow, did NOT disappoint. These kinds of places are a dying presence in our highly commercialised pub trade. The pub itself is just oozing character and history; the new owners are absolutely enchanting. The combination is unforgettable. If an authentic and enchanting experience is what you seek. Make a visit. 5-Star rating.
Beautifully clean and light - exactly how a fish restaurant should look... Great parking and access... But the real star is those fish and chips! Absolutely delicious - fresh fish inside crispy batter and a wheelbarrow full of chips... Great service... Great value... Highly recommended
Lovely old pub, probably hasn't changed in centuries. Big welcoming, open fire. Pan-fried plaice was delicious and great value. Great stopping off place for the moors.
Such a lovely warm welcome - really delicious food and exactly what was needed coming off the moor partner had lamb shank and I had beef bourguignon. Will make a beeline for this pub when next on Dartmoor.
We’d been told about this pub by a local couple a few years back, and so took the opportunity to visit a few days before Christmas, on our way down from Kent. The Northmore Arms is a truly special pub and, as others have commented, like stepping back in time. There was a warm welcome from the landlady, and my partner & I were made to feel comfortable by the lovely inglenook fire. We’ll certainly be back, and strongly recommend a visit.
Great pub! So friendly ! Wonderful local ciders and local ale ! Came from San Francisco and so worth the long flight! Lovely, friendly pub owner Simone! Dog friendly too!
Earthy village pub. Popped in for Sunday lunch with our 2 dogs. Good atmosphere with friendly staff and customers. Wholesome food . Great beer, so says hubby! Very pleasant on a rainy Sunday.
Couldn't have wished for anywhere better to finish a two-day hike. Hand cut chips with ham and eggs; ales and ciders from the barrel; crisp continental lagers; old-time charm; fabulous landlady.
A curious little pub I've stopped off at a couple of times when hiking on the moor on sunny days. Haven't been to an event yet but the toasties and couple of pints of cider were very welcome and reasonably priced.
