Service in here is second to non. Very attentive, can't do enough for you. Mixed grill was lovely. Huge portion. Had to wait a while as their delivery was delayed but other than that, can't fault the place. Décor, atmosphere, everything about the place is great. Very family friendly and a wonderful beer garden to the side and rear. Highly recommend
Had dinner at the pub yesterday with my friends. The carvery was great at reasonable price and plenty of vegetables. I liked the mash potatoes, cheesy cauliflower and passion fruit mocktail! The ambiance was very impressive and I loved it! Will definitely recommend this place!
Decent choice of beers the IPA is ok the staff are pleasant. Prices a bit high tbh on.the drinks ..biggest problem was the huge sign outside which said 20% OFF FOOD AND DRINK with a Wednesday cinema ticket. Well it was Wednesday and no the offer would not be honoured because head office had taken the 20% OFF drinks option of the tills. The staff also being challenged by the guy behind me quickly removed the huge sign board. Great location by the canal and pleasant seating area outside good choice of food and sauces if limited in quality. Typical PUB food. Awaiting response from Greene King on my complaint which they say will be investigated thoroughly lets see. I have to say I am pleased with the outcome I have recieved by email and will return. Worth a visit to make up your own mind definitely nowhere near as good as it could be and you should have honoured the Clearly Advertised deal before removing it.
They do a vegetarian carvery, which was decent. The staff member was also very helpful with dietary requirements. The decor of the place hasn't changed for many years though.
Visited today the first time since before lockdown, we used to avoid unless people we were meeting insisted. The staff were miserable, the food mediocre and the tables every single time no matter where we sat were sticky. We visited today on a whim, I went to the bar while my wife found us somewhere to sit, greeted with a beautiful smile from the barmaid who was polite, friendly and helpful. We ordered our food, despite how busy it was it came quickly and hot, the steak and ale pie was lovely, good sized side of chips and the peas cooked just right, the gravy boat was a little watery but no big deal. We'll definitely be returning.
Fast food to fill people's appetite may be adequate for some people Sunday dinner appeared wholesome however I personally enjoy healthier options. Salad consists of leaves only helpful staff went the extra mile to provide me with cucumber and tomatoes. A good variety of small dishes was included but not to my taste.
It would be an okay decent place if they actually had more than one person serving at the bar at any one time. Evening's are their busiest times, you'd think they'd put an extra person on but no. Instead you have a member of staff walking around with a clip board under their arm while the pub gets even busier. There is always a queue, nearly to the door. If they were run of their feet and the place were heaving I would understand. Employ some decent staff who would like to serve the customers in a timely manner and get them seated, instead of waiting at the bar for 20 minutes. Why the one star, because the food is actually quite decent, staff not serving just let's the place down.
Carvery was amazing for our group of participants they experienced a wonderful spread! Some have never been to a Carvery before, it was wonderful to see them relax, interact and enjoying each others company and good food. The staff were great. We had a steak pie and a carvery today. First time in this pub. The food was amazing but above all else the staff were lovely. Nothing was too much trouble for them ! Highly recommended
Not overly impressed as an individual who has worked in hospitality & pubs for a very long time. Staff dropping cutlery and leaving it there. No check back on food, staff walking past ignoring customers trying to get their attention to go and lean up the bar and chat. Can’t complain on the food, was fast coming out. Staff are concerning.
