We went for an event and it was very nice. The place is very big. If you go there for an event there is lots of land. They had food trucks, we didn't go inside the building so can only comment on the actual land for events. The car park was quite big and they had people guiding you to where you should park. It was helpful because once we got our ticket we had to drive right to the bottom and it was 100% clear if we go left or right but we noticed a man in an orange jacket who pointed out where to park.
Ideal for horse racing but a home for fireworks display once a year. Mixed feelings about it moving from West park. Postive is that you have ample parking, cheeky for them to charge, thats why all Dunstall Roads are blocked . Exit route to the side gets blocked as cars are parked on pavement leading to Gorsebrook Road.
I visited the race course for the Bonfire night celebrations and it was absolutely spectacular, I'll definitely be back next year
Great value evening even if winners were in short supply!
The waiting on staff were totally incapable of doing their job. 11 of us arrived for a party night, ordered a round of drinks, after 25 minutes nothing - a helpful lady, possibly a manager, tried to sort it, then 4 drinks arrived but no sign of more. Had to order again, another 15 minutes but still missing one drink. Ordered wine, wrong wine delivered to table after another long wait. Had starters but after 30 minutes chased mains which then arrived but were missing items from menu - some with no vegetables at all, beef dish without the red cabbage, etc etc. The service continued like this with missing drinks, incorrect drinks, so we skipped the waitress service and went to the bar - I'm using the word service but it was anything but. The lady manager did her best but she was fighting a losing battle, the other staff seemed totally disinterested and did not want to be there - never again!!!
My wife and I visited the racecourse on Saturday 04/03/23 We had an exceptional time and throughly enjoyed the visit. May I say this review would have been 5 stars if the catering in the main hall had not been so poor. Long queueing, not so hot chocolate and tea with a very limited list of items to eat.
Had a great day with the family, good facilities and excellent entertainment. The only disappointment was the fact that there was only one hot drinks vendor for the grandstand area on a very cold day, the queue was enormous and we'd probably have missed a couple of races if we'd joined it.
Attended the meet yesterday 8th April 2023 for my husbands Birthday. Excellent evenings racing let down once again by the catering and bar. Very poor quality of food and long queues for the bar facility. Also given incorrect details regarding returning plastic glasses.
Second time I've visited such a great night out , but really expensive so be prepared but watching the horses come into the prade ring is nice as you get a glimpse of you're horse betting I don't understand but the gentleman explains it for you , but the only fault are prices there ridiculously high for a drink 5,.00 something chocolate bars 2,00 approx! What and there was no coffee I think that could do with being looked at especially with the cost of living , I was treated for my 40th but otherwise a great night
Aways a great day out. Not much walking to do and free parking. I stay in hotel and have a meal in horizon's which is a really good meal. Staying in hotel can have a bit of a drink and straight to bed. Would always recommend as a great experience
