Treated for lunch by my eldest daughter for Mother's Day Food was very tasty. Have also been for coffee and cake and can recommend any of the cakes. Lovely atmosphere, rustic and relaxed. Nice to walk around the shop as well. Is also dog friendly. Can recommend.Food: 5/5
Visited with family after a recommendation about the scotch eggs. They were great. Very tasty see photo. However, we were pestered by the owners dog a golden labrador type in a pink harness. It scavenged previously spilt food from beneath our table and scrounged for food - to the point that we felt we had to guard our food. We had to keep shooing it away. Most off putting. In summary, the food was tasty and the staff were friendly but the dog issue would prevent me reattending or recommending.
Found this farm shop/cafe while travelling through the area. You enter into the shop which has fresh produce from, scotch eggs, bacon, sausages, fruit, vegetables, bread, local ales and even had a gin station where you could pick your own bottle and fill it yourself. The cafe is located towards the back which was spacious with rustic features. The food was made with quality ingredients with good sized portions. The cafe was also dog friendly. To the side if the cafe was also a plant nursery which from what we could see had a good selection. Staff were super friendly and attentative would recommend if you were going through the area.
Delightful staff, quality of food excellent. Maybe abit pricey for some but l don't mind paying for quality. Best cheese on toast. Cakes delicious we had the orange polenta best l have had and good coffee. The garden centre and deli shop attached excellent too. Highly recommend.Food: 5/5
Wasnt overally impressed with the Nest today, family all rate the place but we all had luke warm food today and a hair in one of the breakfast buns.. We know these things can happen.. but we were told by waitress that everyone wears hair nets and not really any apology, felt slightly defensive if anything. It wasn't the waitresses fault she seemed lovely, would have been nice if a manager came to speak to us rather than sending the young waitress. We are not ones for bad reviews, if its resolved correctly then we leave it there but not when they dont show any sort of remorse. Leaving the cafe we noticed many staff not wearing hair nets.... We wont be rushing back...
Love The Nest! Great delicatessen and an informal eatery. The cakes are to die for!!! Once or twice been disappointed with the lunch but that was rectified promptly. Missing the Crafts section upstairs and downstairs which have gone. Would need more Parking spaces though and Toilets, on crowded days.
Interesting café, not sure what its main focus is, a Garden center, Café or liquor store! Entering from the rear car park, with its curio's and object scattered around the yard into a summer bar, then along a corridor set with small tables and into the cafe. The first thing you see are shelves and crates stacked with Gins and Ales from the area, giving me a good reason to return another day. The time was 11am and on the mid point of a 50 mile cycle ride, so i opted for tea with a slice of Marmalade cake, the tea was fine, my choice of cake not so good, being the first time i had tried Marmalade cake it was not that enjoyable overly stogy, but a hungry cyclist needs fuel and that was accomplished. Staff were friendly and the cafe seemed busy for a week day in the middle of nowhere and worth the ride to get there .
Opening times unclear. Website says cafe and shop open until 5pm but I visited in the week slightly before 3.30 for coffee with a friend and we were initially refused service as the cafe shuts at 4. We pushed it a bit and were reluctantly served a cold drink and a cake but no hot drinks as the machines were shut down. If the cafe shuts at 4, surely you should still be serving at 3.30? That sort of time is when people want afternoon tea or coffee anyway - and why does the website say the cafe closes at 5 unless I’ve read it wrong? I still visit as the food is very good at lunch time but won’t bother going at afternoon tea time.
Decided to stop here on the way home for a bite to eat. Never been here before even though I live 5 mins away. A lovely little garden center with an artisan feel. The plants here look lovingly cared for. The cafe was a little busy when we arrived at 1pm. We where quickly seated and within 5 mins had ordered. The menu is very varied with some amazing sounding food on it. If you want pie and chips this place is not for you. My wife and I ordered the Quiche and our son had the bacon sandwich. The food arrived about 20 mins later. Wow...!! Is all I can say. Fresh homemade food. It was absolutely delicious..And at £8 I thought is was very well priced. The bacon sandwich was enormous and very good. We got cake to take home as we where rather full. After a look around the shop and a few purchases of local bread we made our way home. Would definitely recommend. Thanks guys..!!
A very stimulating and interesting place. We will go again.Much more character than the usual ex farm/ cafe businesses. Parking: Car park at front for shop, but bigger car park at rear. Wheelchair accessibility: Not great, as it is a series of old buildings on a sloping site. They have ramps but steepish ones, and loose surfacing at the rear.
