Great Tudor historic building in the heart of Ledbury.nLimited on-site car parking through a very narrow opening... Made for Coach and horses not Range Rover friendly.nReception staff a little bit hit and miss. Not always managed. A little confusing as to where to go. We had our dog with us so could only eat in the bar area though it was allowed in the bedroom and was well looked after by the waiting staff.nBedrooms good sized with up to date ensuite bathrooms and great to have a proper wardrobe and two sitting chairs.nFood really well cooked and presented.nGreat table service from Jo at breakfast and Callum at evening meal.nWell worth a walk to the church and the separate bell tower.
A really cosy spot in a beautiful old building with friendly service throughout. Parking is easy enough in the evenings but I’d avoid the hotel’s own car park as is quite tight, but there’s plenty of space at the nearby library.nnI just popped in for dinner so can’t comment on the hotel. Food was very good overall. The pork belly was a real highlight, perfectly cooked and full of flavour. Dessert was mixed; the brandy and blueberry crème brûlée didn’t look like much but turned out to be one of the best I’ve ever had, while the pistachio cake with raspberry sorbet fell a bit flat for me and the flavours just didn’t come together.nnAll in all, a lovely place to visit and well worth stopping by.
Popped in for a drink one Saturday lunch time, good range of beers and real ales. Friendly bar staff and obviously serve great lunches as busy. The building is the real star and has been in use for over 450 years, originally a private residence but quickly turned into an inn I believe known as ‘The plume of feathers’ and really came into its own as a coaching inn. Lovey nooks and crannies with rustic areas ideal for a drink or a coffee. Would recommend for a coffee or a meal and we intend to return again with friends soon to do exactly that.
So disappointing. Expensive, so we only go there when we can have the birthday discount. Struggled to find a starter we fancied, chose a seafood lasagne bland and chestnut mushrooms barely edible, with burnt cashews swimming in a pool of undiluted dark soy. The wine a watery white Spanish costing £25 would have disgraced the bottom shelf of a cheap supermarket at £5. It was Sunday, so we soldiered on through the roasts. Meat was good, veg OK, yorkies poor. But the plates were completely COLD. Determined to find something memorable, we ordered the cheese plate unripe brie and two unidentifiable hard cheeses - and NO BUTTER. The blueberry creme brulee was cold, flavourless and lacked a caramel crust. Young and confused staff dressed in jeans and a casually disinterested head waiter. Fine in a pub, not at this price.nThe meal WOULD have cost £140, but with birthday discount came to £90. Was it reasonable value at £90? No and never again.
Going into the Stunning old building, we were met warmly by the lady on reception. Our room “Nell Gwyn” was full of old English character and charm. The bed was very comfortable and made for a good nights sleep. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean, with some really nice touches: Classical music playing in the room on arrival, hand written welcome note, relax lavender sleep spray and quality soap etc., dressing gowns, slippers, and the little rubber ducky for the bath put a smile on my face.nWe had a room, dinner and breakfast package. The evening waiting staff were great and my GF three course evening meal Chimichurri Prawns, Monkfish with crayfish and panang curry sauce, and sticky toffee pudding was lovely with lots more gluten free options on the menu, which is why the breakfast menu surprised me I was hoping for gluten free sausage and bread, the breakfast was okay but nothing special, the young lad serving probably could have done with a bit more training. Simple thing to rectify on an otherwise thoroughly lovely stay. We would definitely stay again.
