Our 1st visit to the Malthouse today! WOW!nEvery mouthful delicious n& a very cheerful service; thank you Sue for squeezing us in Will make sure we ring before we come next time….nWill definitely be back!
Some family and I took my small dog to this charming restaurant/cafe for lunch yesterday. Not surprisingly the outside terrace was full of diners, however they did have a table inside to accommodate us.nThe food was superb and the ambience lovely. The coffee was excellent too. The staff were extremely nice that served us. My nephew and his partner exclaimed that they were the best poached eggs they had ever tasted. My goats cheese parcel was sublime. Highly recommended.
We had a wonderful meal - probably the best ploughman's I've ever had! I had the veggie version and my husband had the meat. It was all so beautifully cooked and non-manufactured/homemade, with local ingredients; just delicious .nnWe went at 2.00 p.m. on a sunny Saturday in summer hols; it was busy but, having been unable to get a table in the past, we booked the day before and I'd recommend this!
What a fabulous, tucked-away, secret garden of a find, The Malthouse is! I can't recommend this place enough. We stopped by for a lunch in the autumn sunshine and were greeted with prompt service and an abundant menu. Drinks arrived very quickly and were great.nnChoosing what to eat was a tough decision not helped by the gorgeous looking plates coming out to other diners. Both lunches ordered were absolutely delicious and thoroughly satisfying.nnThe cakes and bakes available provided another tough decision, but the pear, date, ginger and pecan cake was the perfect autumnal desert to round off the lunch.nnUpstairs inside is an added delight of vintage wares and clothing, which is a lovely, homely touch.nnThe staff were wonderful, very friendly and chatty.nnI can't wait to go back and would happily drive the 1hr+ to get there again. A wonderful lunchtime spot, don't miss out.
The best poached eggs on toast - perfectly cooked. The crispy bacon was excellent too. My husband's pancakes and bacon were some of the best he'd had. The selection of cakes was very good, we took some home with us and they were fabulous. Very accommodating of our dog too. Even better is it combines itself with an antique shop upstairs. We will certainly be back.
