A last minute booking based on price. No complaints at all, the staff where friendly and helpful and the food good and priced well. The pub needs a touch or two of paint, but we understand this scheduled for next march. New paint does not make a pub Ambiance does. Very happy with what we had.
Popped in for a quick lunch on a weekday. Food was brilliant especially for the money- 2 for £10.49 on sizzling platters. Barman efficient and friendly. Very impressed and definitely will return
Visited the pub for food and drinks on a Sunday lunchtime. The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout. The food itself was ok - however the quality of the chicken wasn't the best. The dessert however was very good.
My first visit to this pub tonight after moving to the area. Not a good ambiance. I went in with £10, bought a pint. Drank it and went to order another, and was told my £5 was counterfeit- the same £5 note which I received in my change earlier. I had a witness to this but was made to feel like a crook . Needless to say I will not be returning and will advise others to do the same. Very disappointing .
Just gotten to the hotel and had issues with payment which got sorted. Got into room and first appearance was okay till I started noticing marks and stains all over walls. Don't even want to know what they are. Worlds smallest TV but doesn't bother me as won't be using it. Bathroom door doesn't shut and can't be forced so my privacy is slightly limited. Door handle fell off and luckily I was wearing shoes as screws would have hurt me when they fell and so would the handle. Marks on Bath tube and marks all over wall in bathroom. Going to speak to someone tomorrow about it as its not on. Noise levels are pretty bad and I'm staying here for work so will be getting up early. Giving it two stars as staff are very polite but rooms are definitely letting it down.
On a positive note, the food was really good, the staff friendly and the room was quiet. Unfortunately, they are about the only positives I can give. The mattress was old with springs sticking out making for an incredibly uncomfortable sleep, towel rails and plug sockets were hanging off the walls. The shower was shocking with really unreliable water pressure and temperature with the hot water tap barely functioning. On top of that, a faulty fire alarm kept setting off the whole building at 1am causing us to be completely unable to sleep. We were fully prepared for some noise due to the time of year but this really took the cake. We also received a voucher for money off a meal which, when we went to use it, they could not scan or enter manually and instead just charged the full price which I was happy to pay as the food was pretty good however, you'd expect there to be a workaround with the manager in an instance that their own voucher isn't working on their tills.
Was busy and food did take a while. At least 45 mins from ordering. However staff were friendly, food tasted nice. There was also a nice lively atmosphere with live bands.
We booked 2 double rooms for 2 nights as we were attending a local event. We had one really large room which although very tired in decore and really grubby with stained/filthy chairs, a broken shelf in the bathroom, no towel rail and very noisy plumbing was ok. The room our friends had however was awful, after having to be broken into to get into it by the staff, they found it to be filthy with lots of health and safety issues, such as broken plug socket, hacked door frame, bathroom door that wouldn't shut, unknown stains all over the room, no dressing table area, shower fixed up with cable ties, broken wardrobe doors, these are just the things I can remember. The staff were very friendly and helpful, doing the best they could in their control to help. Unfortunatley with a local event on there wasn't any other room availability or our friends would have moved. Food was ok for a chain pub. Greenking should be ashamed of themselves for allowing their staff to have to face customers with issues like we had, they should be prioritising a refurb of this property asap. We understand it is a budget hotel but it is not a nice place to stay as it is.
It a ok place to have a cheap and cheerful meal, very hit and miss, last time we were served the wrong food but was sorted out. Never seems to be enough staff on so long wait to order drinks.
Lovely village pub, very friendly & welcoming. Staff great, funny & kind. Food delicious. Right next to the station so easy to find.
