A busy chip shop on a Saturday evening, but for good reason. Everything was prepared and cooked to order. Between us we had cod, haddock, battered sausage, chips and curry sauce, all was hot and delicious.nThe staff were all helpful, friendly and efficient. There was a long queue of people, but orders were taken quickly and we soon moved along the queue.nWe will definitely come here again the next time we're in Bude.
Such a lovely food takeaway. Went there today for the first time, ordered a kids sausage and chips. it came with a capri sun, a curry sauce and the sausage and chips itself. The woman serving today was absolutely lovely, so lovely to have a woman like her on the front of their business. The portion size was fantastic! Never had a child’s order have a good sized curry sauce included! The sausage was a jumbo sausage too which was extremely good for the money! It was £4.90 for the lot and when you consider how much you get, that’s so cheap. The chips were cooked perfectly and the curry sauce was proper chippy curry sauce. Today was my first time coming to Bude, even though I am Cornish, but when i next come, The Mermaid will be the first place i come back too! Really really pleased, support small people!
I knew we had to come back here again for our second visit to Bude! It sets our holiday up nicely with freshly cooked Fish and Chips. Even though it gets busy, there isn't an incredibly long wait. I see it only as a bonus that it's busy as it's obviously sought after. The food portions are VERY generous which I'm not complaining about at all! so I was suitable stuffed after a regular portion. Staff were friendly and patient! Prices are affordable and for what you get is more than reasonable. Thank you for being reliable and kicking our holidays off with a great start
Beautifully cooked cod with light and crispy batter, chips were perfectly cooked too! Generous amount of salt & vinegar and reasonably priced. Would definitely purchase again if down that way!
Such lovely people so welcoming and bubbly and cheerful. The food was lovely I had their homemade fish cake and absolutely loved i and their chips were nice and crispy. 100% recommend if your in bude and looking for some nice fish and chips go to the mermaid!
