I came here today to have a lovely meal with my partner and was met by a beautiful women, Bridie, who went over and above our expectations for the whole service. I haven’t received such service before in any restaurant I’ve been to and I highly appreciate her making date night a memorable experience. Not only was she looking after us impeccably but she was non stop helping others too which shows how hard working and dedicated she is to her job. The food was delicious also, especially the chicken and potato skewers which was our first time trying I would highly recommend Thank you so much Bridie for your lovely service that you provided for us we will definitely be coming back. Thank you
06-10-24 - Visited this venue for a break whilst on the search for the owl sculptures around North London. Decided to go for a chicken roast dinner & damn… exceeded my expectations. Good value for money, awesome food & friendly staff.Food: 5/5
We came to the Maynard last weekend with some family. We’ve always had a good experience there and this occasion was no different. The atmosphere is always friendly and relaxed, food is great and service is brilliant. We have to shout out in particular to Shanks and Ernie who looked after us this time. They were so kind, proactive and responsive - even though they were also busy with other customers. We were also really appreciative of how patient they were with our very busy toddlers/preschoolers!! Definitely a firm favourite spot!
The Maynard Arms answered the question, providing us with a good Sunday Roast dinner helping us to have a very chilled afternoon. From the moment I walked in this place was busy, yet chilled; a show of how popular it is with locals. The pub is deceptively big, and the decor is very nice with me getting a rustic feel at every turn of my head. The staff were very friendly and attentive, with me also having a nice conversation with one of the waitresses on my experience, friendly staff always elevate the experience. For lunch I ordered the porchetta, which is something I didn't expect to find on the menu as when it comes to a roast dinner I always favour a nice piece of English pork belly. This was a very different experience with an attempt to fuze a classic Sunday Roast with Rome's famous pork belly, something I've eaten a few times on multiple trips around Italy. Everything on my plate was cooked well, however it was the porchetta that I was a little put off by as it was dryer than usually expected only being more enjoyed with a little gravy which shouldn't be the case with this meat dish. For me it just doesn't sit well with a roast dinner as the flavour profiles greatly differ where a roast dinner is monotone in taste and simple, unlike Italian food which speaks for itself being one of the best cuisines with rich flavours. I would have kept the pork option to the classic British roast pork, rather than offering porchetta. Regardless I liked this pub and I'd definitely shortlist this place for a good place to check in the summertime, as it also has a secretive and big beer garden. So I'll be back to enjoy that when the weather warms up!
I came here for a birthday roast with some friends. The garden was lovely and had a great atmosphere on a sunny day. Some of the roasts were great, but the chicken and vegan options lacked something. What made our experience great though was the AMAZING service. Shanks I think was his name! was such a lovely person and really made us all feel happy and welcomed. I haven't received that kind of service in a long time, and we really appreciated him being so attentive and matching our energy! Big cudos to him and the team in general.
Great place to drink with superb beer garden. Lovely staff, very chatty. THE MALBEC is not much to write home about, but the Estrella de Galicia and Timothy Taylors landlord were great!Service: 5/5
Still a firm favourite, plenty of seating, an easy walk from where I live, and the large garden comes into its own during the good weather. The beer's good and there's the usual range of wines and spirits and a couple of zero and low alcohol alternatives. A good all round venue with a nice ambience and friendly service. Lots to like!
The food was nice but we ordered for 6 people, 2 first then the other 4 but one after the other. The food took so long to come for the 4 that the first 2 had finished the entire meal. I've never had such slow service, the waiting staff were so over stretched they needed more supportFood: 4/5
The food was good. No issues with the kitchen. But the whole place and service was completely chaotic. Yes, it was Fathers Day, but you know how many people have booked. We had to ask for everything, multiple times. From table water to drinks to starters to mains to puddings. 30 minutes to get our first drinks. 40 minutes to get the starter. Food was left at the pass for ages - and that wasn’t even ours. Burgers and sea bream under the lights for 15 minutes. I’m not kidding. I never ever leave reviews, good or bad but this was meant to be a Father’s Day treat and it was a shocker. Amazing venue and overall facilities. Should be a Crouch End staple. I’ll go back to the Vicky Stakes next time
I really want to like the Maynard Arms, but I feel disappointed from my last visit. £11 for an Aperol Spritz that mainly consists of water ice, soda, Prosecco, Aperol? You got to be kidding me. If you charge £11 for a Spritz, you better make it worth it and not serve a watered down version of such an iconic drink. Sure, it looks great, but it had zero buzz to it. As for the volume of the drink, it was below average in my opinion.
