Brilliant setting 13C hotel with extremely luxurious maze of rooms leading to one of many dining areas. Met at the door and escorted to table. Excellent service and tea and cakes, etc served with an explanation of what was what. Copious refills of tea and coffee followed by champagne. Not rushed at all and could have stayed longer. Lest very satisfied - and full! Food & drinks: We had afternoon tea, sandwiches, scones prn. ‘skonz’, cake. Others around us seemed to have very nice meals also.
A real gem. Step through the old front door and this place opens up into separate rooms with several log fires and comfortable seating. Head straight to the back for a bar with table service. Lovely beers, wines and cocktails. The food was delicious here and the service from the friendly young staff was exceptional. Dogs welcome and fussed over with free treats. One of the best places I have visited in a long time. Highly recommended.
Famous old hotel built in Cotswold Stone, old part with creaky floors, good service but food takes a while to get from kitchen to table. Having said that the staff are charming. Don't forget to register for parking or you'll get a fine !Rooms: 4/5
Lovey looking venue, staff are great , drinks are on the pricey side however wine was very good. We were expecting a wonderful food experience however it turned out to be very average and for the high price was very disappointing. Overall what we ordered was very bland including the cheese board that came straight out of a very cold fridge. 3 course meal for 2, 1 driver and not having steak £230
I came with my partner after he booked us a night here for my birthday. It was a great night away together to explore the town, have a great meal, and use the spa facilities. The service here was exceptional. We received help with our bags and the person helping us was incredibly friendly. The bar staff was also great. There is a lot of space to lounge around the bar and lobby area. It’s a very cozy hotel. The spa area was quiet for the most part. There were two children there for a moment and they weren’t too loud or disruptive. We may have lucked out with timing, but it was quiet and relaxing when we were by the pool. Rooms: Cozy, well decorated rooms. It felt a little warm in August, but I’m an American and we love our AC. Nearby activities: Shops and restaurants/pubs surround the immediate area. You will have access to nearby walking paths as well. Walkability: Broadway is a very walkable town. Please be mindful that some paths off the main road may have steps.
What a brilliant hotel, situated in a beautiful part of the UK. The Grill restaurant is an amazing setting for dinner, and I would highly recommend the Butter Chicken! The whole hotel is extremely comfortable and we loved being able to sit by a REAL fire all day! The spa is lovely and very relaxing. The staff couldn’t do enough for us and gave us great recommendations of activities in the local area! I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone!
Beautiful hotel, we have passed it for years and always wanted to stay here so for a birthday treat booked a 2 nights for 3 mid week stay. Nice feel to the hotel real fires on in several rooms all staff smartly turned out in tweed waistcoats or Jackets. Lots of staff so good service, lots of small areas with seating for between 2/4/6 people with a mix of furniture, & nice rugs and cosy decor. Our Room was up two flights of steep stairs so I would ask if your not good on your feet as they have several more modern rooms on the ground floor extension. Our room was a very traditional Tudor decor with double height ceiling lots of oak beams and wooden floorboards, we asked for extra blankets as we were cold but got a Dyson fan so that works well. We had dinner in the grill and the menu is nice a good selection of traditional foods, £85 for two people for one starter Prawn Cocktail £22 we were going to share but my wife couldn’t eat this as it was that spicy, I’m ok with spicy food but wow it was hot not sure if they had slipped with the Cayenne Pepper ? Then I had a chicken curry with a poppadom really nice. And a portion of Mussels Mariniere again very nice, one bottle of white wine at a time £45. The hotel was busy with several of the seating areas occupied. The second night we decided to eat in the bar for something lighter. The bar menu is cheaper than the grill as you would expect but the choose is good and better value in my opinion. We went for Fish & Chips and a Cheese Burger a couple for beers and a couple of Wine by the glass £90. All in all a pleasurable experience valet parking included in the stay and very handy as the village is difficult to park. Would stay there again.
Iconic hotel that never disappoints and now with the added benefit of James Martin's Grill. Food was exquisite and great proportions. Service was a little off par, but not bad just not up to the standard the hotel suggests. Highly recommend the salmon trio starter and lamb shank main. Food & drinks: Pre dinner Negroni in the Bar was top notch.
We went to celebrate a friend's birthday with afternoon tea at the end of January. The sitting/dining area was pleasant enough but would have been improved by the log fire being lit to bring a cosier feel to the room. Service was ok and the scones were good, however at £13 for tea and scones, we felt it lacked the extra special something we had been expecting.
This place is great, The service was 10/10 everyone very nice and polite, and the atmosphere of the place is just what you want, old fireplaces and drinks. Lots of Dog owners at the hotel which we loved, and also a spa which we have a very good massage at. Food was nice but overpriced, as was the rooms. Rooms: The room was nice but very old and creaky floorboards, no fridge and not the best pillows. Food & drinks: We went to the grill for dinner, breakfast and afternoon tea - the food was OK but overpriced, expect to pay over the odds for everything, and service charge on everything too. The afternoon tea was lovely and they made substitutions for my pregnant wife, and we couldn't eat it all so took some Home with us.
