I'm really surprised this property carries the Springhill Suites name. The location is fine, and the public spaces are reasonably attractive, but the experience falls apart when you enter the room at least the one we stayed in. The room was configured as a suite, but there was not adequate room for the furnishings. The single TV was placed in the space between rooms, which resulted in not being able to see it from half of the bed and most of the living space. The room wasn't filthy, but it wasn't clean. Full disclosure, we received the room free as an earned Marriott reward. If we had paid for it, I'd have complained bitterly, but it didn't seem worth the effort since we were only there for one night. One more problem. There is nowhere to eat dinner within walking distance. On a positive note, the free breakfast wasn't bad, and the staff we had contact with were pleasant and tried to be helpful.
We wanted a hotel close to the cruise terminal and I'm happy we selected this location. What's working well: very spacious rooms, small kitchen area with mini fridge and microwave, decent size bathroom, and comfy balcony What could be better: not enough outlets, no USB ports, small closet The staff is cordial and attentive. The free breakfast is okay. Overall, a good value for travelers. Rooms: Spacious rooms but not enough outlets or any USB ports. Nearby activities: Quick drive to Galveston beach and other city activities.
Great location and large room. They had a big breakfast in the morning, and coffee in the room. Loved having a tiny fridge and living area to rest in. Staff was friendly, and there is a little market in the lobby in case you need snacks.Rooms: 5/5
This hotel is well located a few feet from the beach. The view is wonderful, it overlooks the sea. A small kitchen corner if you want coffee or tea, the rooms are not too spacious but are enough for a small stay. The breakfast is ok but can be quickly crowded, you have to be a bit patient to get to the waffle machine. Overall, the hotel is nice and the customer service was also very professional.
Clean. But broke. The coffee pot in the room did not work. And even if did there was only 1 serving of regular coffee for 2 people. The outlet you plug the pot into was loose in the wall. There is only one elevator for this place, so you waited in line a lot. The mattress was extremely bad. Needs change out. However, Staff was nice.
TLDR: Don’t recommend; thin walls, poor cable reception. The walls are so thin that you can hear everything from your neighbors, the road, and the hall almost as if the walls are non-existent. Tried to watch TV over the neighboring rooms TV and only basic channels come through, the rest just say please wait and nothing happens. On the good side, breakfast wasn’t bad though the sausage smells very strongly of meat smell in a not so good way. Rooms are clean, and water gets nice and hot. The elevator has a very strong smoker smell… Probably the worst Marriott property we have stayed at.
My husband and I just stayed 2 nights here with our 2 daughters. I'm giving it 3 stars only because it was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the views from our 4th floor balcony were nice. However, the indoor pool, which was the whole reason we chose this hotel, was DISGUSTING. It was cloudy and smelled horrible - not like chlorine at all. Also, the rooms had hardly any outlets. We had to unplug lamps and the clock to plug in our phones. The desk had no light or plug ins near it not a functional workstation at all!, the continental breakfast was sparse and unappetizing, and the service was not at all friendly. Not at all worth the price, especially when it is located so far away from everything. Do not recommend.
This is the most disgusting Marriott resort I have EVER seen. The first red flag is when you check in they have you sign a non-smoking agreement because smoking in the hotel is a problem. We checked out and went to a local Hilton that was SIGNIFICANTLY nicer and half the price. When we spoke to the front desk they admitted they knew their hotel lacked quality and apologized for the trouble.
We got the room on Hotwire, Wednesday thru Saturday am. We checked in after dark, and we were met the next am with a beautiful view of a huge transformer and the back of the next hotel. I wish we had the view above. I've seen one of these hit by lightning, and since the forecast was for rain, thunderstorms, and high winds. I asked at the reception desk about changing rooms, and explained why. She gave us a room on the third floor instead of the second, so instead of looking directly at a new transformer, we looked down at a very rusty one. The room itself was lovely, nice set up. Free hardy breakfast. We don't go to Galveston for that kind of view tho. Noteworthy details: Please read above
Paid the same as we have for luxurious stays so you can imagine our surprise when we walked into this room. Service was great but we had LOUD neighbors so no sleep and the bed wasn't great so that didn't help. Really disappointed in Marriott for this property. @marriott you need to step it up on this property!
