The Loft Café & Bakery

About

We want to share simple good food with you.

Story

The Loft Café & Bakery is situated in the historic market town of Haddington. Whether you live locally, are visiting the area or just passing through en route to Edinburgh or the wonderful East Lothian coastline, we hope you will stop by and stay a while.

Our light and spacious café is situated in a beautiful listed stone building, with a sheltered courtyard where you can sit and enjoy some of our artisan tea or coffee.

We believe in good simple food, freshly prepared using local produce and keeping very much in tune with the seasons. We bake all our cakes and make all the jam and chutneys. Come and say hello!

Been here a few times. Lovely place, very busy, good service, good menu. Lovely baked goods on display but - not as tasty as they look. I had smoked mackerel pate and it was oily and pretty unpleasant, with home made oat cakes which were dry and dusty flavoured. I have also had soup and a sandwich previously and these were the same. Under seasoned and tasteless. Not sure if I picked the wrong stuff but they need to test some of their goods and tweak. Will go elsewhere in future except for the coffee which is ace.

1st lunch visit, having been for coffee (very good) and cake (very, very good). Menu looked good, we ordered and waited. And waited. Over 40 minutes for soup and bread. Turned out they had run out of soda bread, which we wanted but weren't offered an alternative until queried. Also run out of sausage rolls. At 1 on a Saturday?? Soup very tasty, could've been warmer. Stovies (my sausage roll replacement) tasty, could've been warmer. We do like the Loft and will be back, but a wee bit disappointed

Tremendous coffee from Artisan Roast in Edinburgh. Great cakes. Lovely service. Nice place to buy a loaf of bread from some local bakeries. Sometimes runs out of space. Lift for buggies and wheelchair users.

Great wee place! Nice atmosphere, and great food. This is a perfect place for lunch or coffee and a catch up with friends or family. Would recommend the home made soup!

Great cafe to visit in Haddington. Recommend for lunch or tea and cakes. Food all seems like home made. Love all the unmatching China cups and plates.
