"Cockenzie House is now returning to the cauldron of creativity and industry it once was when the Cadell family managed the saltpans, harbours and local coalmines. It currently hosts 30 artists, small businesses, crafters and a wide variety of allotments and bee keeping. It proudly exhibit works of local artists. Young artists are finding recognition and building profiles and the House and its listed gardens are becoming a popular 'destination' with Cadell's Secret Garden, the Hecla Gallery and a host of other recitals, events, parties and weddings. As a community venture, we are always looking for volunteers to maintain and develop our operations, as well as donations. If you would like to help, please get intouch. Thanks."

We took my dad here for lunch for his birthday since his dog was allowed in and the grounds are lovely. If a menu was available to view in advance, I would have gone elsewhere. It's basically sandwiches or baked potatoes with nice fillings and salad etc but it should be nice for £10 each. It's a small lunch menu and lots of the more substantial things weren't available - both pies, the salmon and the kid's burger. They should really have put on a 'special' additional dish to compensate for this. We probably won't go back.
Place was lovely was there for a wedding evening reception. Parking was not great, lighting from gate to venue was poor also not disabled friendly. Also getting from one venue to marquee had to walk up a grass slope then back again to reception. Partner has to use wheelchair now and again but luckily he was using crutches or this would have been impossible for him to attend.
Had an excellent cheese scone & a great cup of coffee at Cockenzie House. Great place with a buzz & lots going on food-wise & artistically. Beautiful setting. Staff helpful & friendly.
Great food and coffee available, the cheese scone with eggs and bacon was delicious, but I'm now filled up for the day Food: 5/5
Great place to visit for a takeaway coffee or to sit in. Lovely lunch items available. A good range of coffee options on offer along with scones. Definitely give the bacon and maple syrup scones a go. Edit: have since revisited as now taken over by Cafe Filly. The service was friendly, lots to choose from on the brunch menu. I felt it was a little expensive. We had cheese scone and fried eggs and smashed avocado on sour dough toast £10. The avocado was well seasoned but was sliced. Not a problem for me but I know some will only eat it mashed. The coffee was nice. The atmosphere and decor was nice but it was a little cold in the room. I will return to see what the rest of their menu is like.
Spent a couple of hours around Musselburgh and decided to head to Cockenzie for lunch. I hadn't been since the Filly Cafe had been taken over and decided to try a burger and flat white from the van. Great food and very reasonably priced too. The lady serving was really friendly and helpful about what activities are happening around the garden and house. Top marks
Fleamarket first Saturday of the month March to October. Great range of stalls, quality bargains to be had, lovely crowd, good coffee/food van all in a lovely outdoor setting. See you all again 2023.
Your Facebook page says you're open on Sundays 10 until 4 - myself and another 8 people were advised by another Cockenzie House occupier that you're not - please update your opening hours to avoid disappointing people Have a good weekend
Visited museum after our latte's. Interesting exhibit about metal detector finds in the area.Food: 5/5
Attended the outdoor function. Live music very good. Drinks and food stations were very good. Gardens were well maintained. Didn't get the chance to go inside the house. Maybe on our next visit.
