The Letting Agency

Unfortunately, I have had an extremely poor experience with the letting agency from the beginning of my tenancy and have since left my tenancy early due to the ongoing issues with both the property and management by The Letting Agency. The general consensus seems to be that as a Landlord they are great, as a Tenant they are awful. Upon moving in there were several maintenance issues including a non-working kitchen sink tap left for extended periods of time the tap took 1 week to fix so I had no kitchen sink or water that whole time, the smaller issues such as cupboard doors missing, lino and uneven flooring, broken tiles took 2 + months to sort out - These were all highlighted by myself in the week I moved in. I had to chase in excess of 8 times over 2 months, and given dates and times that no one showed up for. The staff in the office bar the Director who I had to contact in the end have been rude, unhelpful and flippant with any concern. With no access to our energy meters, I had to chase every single month to get my readings, was given the wrong readings on more than one occasion, and refused to send a photo of the meter for mind's ease as it would 'take too long'. More concerningly, Contractors have entered my flat without notice and without me even being aware they were given keys to do so? and our communal front door had the lock removed & left over night on a public street, with no contact or notice to what was going on. I have never received an apology for any of the above issues. I was eventually allowed to leave my tenancy 2 months early due to the above issues, but even with 2 months notice from myself that I wished to leave, I was only told with 2 weeks notice that they had found someone - Which was only due to me seeing the post had been removed from Rightmove so I enquired whether someone had agreed to the let. Likewise, I left a week early paid up as requested, and was still charged in excess of £400 for minor wear & tear issues including genuinely being sent images of dust in a cupboard that I had 0 access to. Overall, an extremely poor and unsafe environment to live in, with staff that will likely respond to this with a patronising and irreverent tone as per any comms I had with them whilst living there. It appears that they are more than happy to manage the rent payments through them, but less so to actually manage the properties.

Holly Watkins was absolutely fantastic when we had to find somewhere new to live at very short notice. She was always at the other end of the phone or replying to e-mails promptly and guiding us through it bit by bit. Now we are in our new home the regular contact is still there and I know any problems we may have in the future will be dealt with quickly and efficiently. Would highly recommend The Letting Agency to anyone .... Excellent service.

Have used The Letting Agency for a year for flat letting and the service has been great. Everything conducted very professionally and efficiently from the beginning. They have taken car of all letting regulation/legal issues so I have not needed to worry about it. Extremely responsive by phone and email for any queries that arise, all payments very easy - a pleasure to deal with. Ellie, Holly and Fran have all provided excellent service in particular. I rented a property in Royston with the Letting Agency and they were very good through the entire process. From the viewing to end of the tenancy they were always very professional, prompt to reply to their emails, inform with plenty notice for inspections or anything that would take place at the property gas or electricity inspections and also very nice and fair through inspections have heard some horror stories from friends of mine with other agencies. The end of tenancy process was also very smooth. I really appreciated the fact that they give you a checklist to help you remember everything you need to do and also recommend companies for cleaning and repairs if required which I found very helpful. Strongly recommend based on my experience.

Holly is a fantastic representative for the letting agency. Myself and my girlfriend have almost finished our first year of tenancy, and despite difficulties with our landlord, Holly has remained a valuable source of support, and has ensured that us as tenants are looked after and treated fairly.
