Just back from a 3 day sea kayak trip in north devin with Matt and Sophie leading and plenty of support from trainee instructor Jon. Wow what a trip. I haven’t been kayaking for some years and I felt is such safe hands. It was evident that such a huge amount of care went into planning the trip, making sure we all had the right kit, great welcome instructions, informative briefings, brilliant on the water instruction at just the right level for all of us. Really well thought through and catered for every eventuality with the unpredictable sea conditions. Not only great to see the incredible wildlife, seals, jellyfish, bird life, but stunning coastal scenery and lighthearted, warm and welcoming company. Couldn’t stop grinning for 3 days. Can’t recommend Leam Boat Centre enough. I’ll be back on the water again soon for sure. thank you team!
Went on a taster paddle boarding 2 hour class today. Had a great time, learned a lot and what I need to do to improve. The instructors are great. They are knowledgeable and friendly and very patient. A great place to see if you like paddle boarding. Thanks to everyone there.
Hired a Canoe for an hour recently. The staff here are amazing and friendly, they offered great advice, all boats and equipment are well maintained. It was great to paddle on the river, which is also well maintained. Certainly worth visiting and supporting. Would visit again.
I attended for a 2hr paddle board taster session and I loved it. The instructors were attentive when needed and explained all the basics of how to kneel and stand on the board. We learnt how to turn and paddle straight but I also enjoyed that teaching us the basics, we were left to ourselves to make our way up the river leam as a group. I found it so relaxing spending time in nature and the 2 hours felt like a really good amount of time to be out on the water. I would recommend this to anyone who was interested in trying paddle boarding.
Centre as a whole is just amazing all the staff so welcoming. On my course my instructor Sophie was truly amazing. could not recommend the place enough and I will be back for more.
Brought a boat from here and was sold the wrong size. Subsequently went to another shop where the service was far superior. The advice I received was not in line with the manufacturers information or what other shops would say. I'm sure this place is great If you want a day experience of paddling on the river but if you want to buy kit then look at more professional shops that can give you the time of day.
We stayed in the local area last weekend, and made the decision to book the 2 double Kayaks. At the time of booking - we found it quite hard to get through on the phone, so did it online. On the day of the hire - the staff were very helpful in getting us into our life vests and into our Kayaks. Luckily we'd kayaked before - so had a rough idea of handling etc. Although we did spent the first few yards paddling with our paddles upside down. Once we got that sorted - we were off in search of adventure! We had such a fab time even though we seemed to spend half of it drifting into weeds and low hanging trees Whilst in the back - I wasn't able to get my legs in a comfy position so much so - It hampered my paddle stroke somewhat. An enjoyable few hours, with much hilarity - we'd definitely do this again if we were in the area.
The Open Water SUP weekend was a fantastic weekend away, a great introduction to paddling on open water with a brilliant coach. Sunshine and rainbows not guaranteed. The Intro to white water day was a great follow up, learnt a lot about faster moving water and really felt an improvement and increase in confidence by the end of the day. Looking forward to an intermediate course in the near future please!
Was given the kayaking taster session as a gift and we loved it! The trainers were so patient and helpful they really put us at ease. The whole session was enjoyable and we were a little nervous but would do it again all over again so much fun!
