I had the pleasure of enjoying a Sunday roast , and it was an absolutely delightful experience! The ambience was warm and inviting, creating the perfect setting for a cozy meal. Our server was incredibly friendly and helpful, that made the visit even more enjoyable. The food was delicious on an authentic take on a classic roast. The portions were impressively generous,. Overall, a lovely and authentic experience I’d highly recommend!
Thanks for an enjoyable lunch. Excellent Victorian Pub in superb location. Squeezed my wheelchair in. Service, staff, food, drink and cost top drawer. Aim to return soon and explore the area . Wheelchair accessibility: Tight but manageable. No toilet. Let them know email when booking. Staff great.
Wonderful pub. Great selection of beers on. Club for supporters on game days which is just so charming. Staff are always brilliant too.Food: 5/5
Tucked away in a quiet, off-the-beaten-path area, this pub offers a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The fish and chips were excellent – crispy, with tender, flavorful fish inside, and paired perfectly with mushy peas and tartar sauce. A pint alongside made the meal even better. The barman was good-natured and friendly, adding to the overall relaxed vibe. Whether for a quick drink or a leisurely lunch, this pub is a fantastic choice. Highly recommended!
I was on route to The Devonshire, what is said to serve a great pint. But on route I spotted a chap with a pint sitting outside The Lamb. My Guinness radar quickly scanned the pint and I realised I need not continue my journey. I asked for a pint and lucky for me Ralph took my order. He served up “The Perfect Pint” and it tasted as good as it looked. I never made it to the other place. A listed “old pub” means you get the authentic British pub but with the perfect pint of Guinness. What more could you want from this beautiful city they call London.
Everything about this pub is excellent. The food, atmosphere, the staff, everything is top notch. You can tell the team have a great rapport. They remembered us after our visit the day before. Nothing is too much bother for them. It’s a great traditional London pub. Lots of local people seem to use it which is again testimony to its charm for you to want to return. It’s best to book but they will always try to accommodate. And it’s fab that it’s open everyday til late. It has become our favourite pub in London. The chefs also need a special mention. You guys know how to please a crowd with your Sunday lunches. Oh. And the decor. We sat under the Victorian duke box! Next time we will inspect the photos and other artifacts a little more. The selection of ales - great! Whoever visits - you will not be disappointed. .
Good old pub where Dickens used to hang out. It's a Young's pub so they kept the old charm and the glass panels like in Victorian times but with the choice of drink from today. Nice and relaxed and quiet. Only had drinks.Service: 5/5
A nice old historic pub which I believe was frequented by many actors and actresses over many decades and I understand that John Hurt enjoyed a visit here. My friend and I went here for a few pints, it was rather cold and not really welcoming so wrap up well! - the staff need cheering up too, so pay a visit and keep engaging with them to make them smile. It will warm up the atmosphere no end !
Amazing Sunday roast! First time visiting and the staff was helpful, accommodating to allergies and very welcoming to our out of town guests. Food was incredible! Amazing gluten free dish and chips and our party tried a number of the roasts all of which were devoured. Great sized portions - very generous. And the best cauliflower cheese we’d had in a long time. Would recommend if you’re in central London and looking for a cozy pub which isn’t a pricey tourist trap - but its own wonderful vibe!
Incredible experience here our first night in London. The atmosphere felt like transporting back in time to experience classic old London in the most beautiful setting. Food was fantastic. The highlight had to be our bartender & server Ralph who couldn't have been more delightful to engage with. Highly recommended!Food: 5/5
