Nice overnight stay here; simple but clean and comfortable rooms meant a great night's sleep. Nice bar area, with good local hand pulled ales as well as usual cider and lagers, plus a very nice Guinness pour for just £4. Food was fresh and good-sized portions, and the bar/hotel staff were really friendly. All told a very nice place to stay. Recommended.
A lovely traditional old pub. The staff made you feel welcome and were very accommodating when we arrived 5 minutes before the kitchen closed and were happy to take our food order. The cod goujon baguette was really nice served with salad and a handful of chips. Will call in there again when visiting Llandovery.
My partner and I only came here for lunch with our daughter; the food was alright but nothing more. We suspected that both hamburger and “roast” chicken had only been cooked sous-vide. Our daughter’s fish and chips can be bought from any generic supermarket. The building is beautiful and well worth a visit. Service was ok.
Such a warm welcome even though we'd turned up wet, muddy with two dogs in tow. Super service, delicious, plentiful and hot food. Shame there was no apple crumble left, it looked amazing but proved very popular as sold out. Worth a visit. Service: 5/5
Even though it was incredibly busy, they kindly found us a table even though we hadn’t booked. The staff were friendly and welcoming and very efficient. I marked down a star because the Sunday lunch portion was a touch on the small side. We all could have done with more than a slice of parsnip, and some roast potatoes would’ve been appreciated! Saying that, the food was very flavoursome and hot, which is very important to me. All in all, very nice but probably wouldn’t return due to portion sizes…
Another Amazing Pub. Right Next To The Best Ice Cream Shop In Town As well! Food was good. Service was fast and the staff are Excellent and the Atmosphere is Lively!Service: 4/5
I was hiking the Cambrian Way and had walked from Cardiff through the Brecon Beacons and stopped in Llandovery for a much needed rest. The staff, and Marius in particular, were very accommodating. They could tell I was wore out and made sure I had a very quiet room. Additionally, they provided input on where things were located in town and were consistently polite, attentive, and gracious. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.
A very large group of us came for dinner here. The food was TERRIBLE! The chips were somehow simultaneously burnt, soggy and raw! So it was probably a blessing there were only 8 chips per plate. The fish tasted like nothing and was sloppy. The scampi was pretty much just empty bread coating. And the cheese board consisted of a very bland rubbery cheddar, an okay brie, and the tiniest slice of snowdonia cheddar. The crumble was okay though. Despite complaining politely, we were offered no compensation. They were clearing the plates from the table while we were still eating. The bar staff were polite, but the guy who claimed to be the owner was incredibly dismissive and quite rude. Also there was an overwhelming stench of raw sewage wafting down the corridor.
Had Sunday lunch here with family and friends today. Severely short staffed, two lads left to serve drinks/run the bar, take food orders and serve food! Out of our table of 6, 4 meals came out and we were asked if the other 2 were eating!. After ordering food again waited another 10 minutes for remaining food to come out! Then had to request missing veg etc again! Tbf the food was delicious, but the inefficiencies with service and 15 minute.wait at the bar for drinks spoilt the while experience for me.. Food & drinks: Food delicious .. Service very poor required double the staff
Nice food, reasonably priced. Good selection of beer including local real ales, varying from £3.70, to over £5 for the premium lagers like Peronni. Tradional oak beamed pub with friendly service.Service: 4/5
