great music nice staff Brilliant for the summer
How anyone could visit this pub after what happened to poor Harvey is beyond me. Needs a new owner.
Pub has been done up pukka, the new owners and staff are amazing and the soul and house day events are brilliant
I've used this pub since 1985 with varying regularly taking into account the council moving us to Rainham for 4.5 years when I got married, bringing up kids, etc over the years. It's had its ups and downs to put it mildly, but with the latest management things look to be on the up, with a decent head count on my last few visits. It seems a shame then that developers have their eyes on this 'plot of land' to turn the local boozer into 25 properties. Between Noak Hill and the outskirts of Harold Wood there were once 11 pubs, now there are 4, either developed, demolished, dilapidated, or made into restaurants. Maybe I live in the past too much but the Harold is a modern pub that has survived the lock down era, I think it deserves a future.
Went here during COVID, it was OK We didn't know about the previous accident several years ago when we visited. Seems OK, and under new management. Some reviews are still commenting about what happened 3 or 4 years ago under previous owners.
Pukka pub great staff and good beer
Awful place to visit with some friends tonight as a group for a final nightcap for a friends birthday. We were told by a local about the death of the young boy Harvey Tyrrell, which was tragic to hear. The locals were unwelcoming and threatening and my husband felt some were ready to start a fight. We drank our drinks quickly and left. I wouldn't recommend this Pub if it was the last one left to visit on the planet. My friend was thinking of trying it for Sunday lunch but has changed her mind after the unwelcome atmosphere and after we learned of the tragic accident by a local. Maybe time for this pub to close for good.
It's a nice place to visit to have a drink however last time when we were there a member of staff came and try to clean the table and take our shot glasses, the glasses were not empty and she tried to take them away and put her fingers inside the glasses, after telling her they are still full she put them down and left them on the table .... this was quite unhygienic, we ended up not drinking from them. I was quite shocked she didn't ask to bring new drinks .
Good local pub with local ales on tap. Big beer garden out the back.
Nice pub, welcoming, recently refurbished and a good variety of drinks on offer. Indoor seating is quite sparse although there’s plenty outdoors for the summer months and they had a dated cabaret-style singer last night which didn’t go down well for some of the younger crowd.
