We stayed in the Douglas Fir in mid Aug 22 and had a lovely relaxing few days in the hollies forest lodges environment. The accommodation is absolutely 1st class and the local farm shop provides the most delicious local produce. The local area has a very interesting heritage and the reclaim world, which is stone throw away, is well worth a visit.
Excellent location, 5 star lodge. The farm shop is outstanding. Looking forward to my next visit in May. Wonderful.Hotel highlightsLuxury
We stayed here for a long weekend with our young family 1 & 5 year olds at the Noble Fir in March. Fantastic looking lodge and would recommend to anyone. Issues - Thermostat for heating turned off when you touched it. Irritating as you then had to set the thing up from scratch. Boiler is in one of the bedrooms and seeing as we dare not touch the thermostat, it was clicking on and off all night. Not a very peaceful night in that room! On booking, the company take an extra £200 for breakages - bit OTT when you pay top £'s to stay here in the first place. Charging for high chair hire and travel cots also seems a bit naff but it's the policy and you know in advance. Final point is, not sure if every stay gets this but the 'free' packet of Durex Pleasure Me pack in one of the bedroom drawers took some explaining to a 5 year old. If these were unintended then your cleaning isn't as good as you think makes a bit of a mockery of the Covid policy and if it was intentional then maybe highlight this before your guests arrive so we can avoid children opening the free sweets... Tip for visitors - if you intend to eat out, book local pubs in advance as we found the Friday night was fully booked nearly everywhere nearby.
Very relaxing place to stay , lodges were very nice as was the food from the farm shop on site . In all this location lived up to all we expectedRooms: 5/5
Lovely quiet rural area. Relaxing break with hubby for his 70th birthday. Lodges are excellent, everything you need for a few days break.Rooms: 5/5
Just returned from a stay at The Grand Fir, would struggle to find fault with anything! The lodge and surroundings are stunning , the kitchen was very well equipped and the staff were so helpful and accommodating Would highly recommend, just love this place, love it xx Rooms: 5/5
Recently stayed at Douglas Fir Forest Lodge, and what a fantastic place, much like one of the previous reviews, we only stayed one night, and we firmly wish we could have stayed longer. Plans are now in place to return within the next month to enjoy a luxurious night or two at one these wonderful lodges. All the staff are very helpful, with the lodge being spotlessly clean and tidy. I would thoroughly recommend taking time out of your busy schedule to unwind in one of the lodges hot tubs with a glass of champagne and relax. Enjoy! we did..
Lovely lodges, some of the best specced ones I’ve ever stayed in. Hot tubs are good and plenty of privacy. Comfortable inside, plenty of space and the staff showed us round everything. It’s great to get a discount of the food and products in the shop too while we stayed.
I am staying in the Grand Fir lodge. It has a king-size master bedroom and a Double room and a twin room with Jack and Jill bathroom between. The master bedroom is onsuite. I have nothing negative to say about our stay in the lodges it has been fantastic. The hot tub is a little snug for 6 people, could have done with being bigger, but is good if you don't mind . The lodge has a working fireplace which Is brilliant. It also has under floor heating. We were unable to put the TV in the master bedroom on, but mentioned it to the manager and he was straight out to fix it we just hadn't pressed the right button haha, he was very polite and brilliant. Would highly recommend these lodges to everyone.
Just returned from spending an evening at the Hollies Forest Lodges. I was in The Spruce. The only complaint was I could only stay for the one night! If you want to relax in comfort this is the place. Bought our dinner from the farm shop on site and had a lovely breakfast in the coffee shop. The cabins are short of nothing and definately 5*. We were in the hot tub 10pm and it was lovely and warm and private. Need to save my pennies now for a return visit.
