Probably the best Christmas decoration in a pub that I’ve ever see. The staff are kind and professional. Is nice to see that they have a different areas. A van for takeaway coffee, nice outdoors tables and then the pub. We tried the burgers and bbq chicken wings, I have to say both was very tasty but not probably in line with the expensive prices, for example €20 each burger ordered normal burgers. The menu in the pub was small, just burger, chicken wings and fish and chips. Not too many choices but as mentioned above they areas with different food selections offered. Overall a very positive experience at the Hole in the Wall pub.
Such a lively place! It was great to see the festive atmosphere there. We were late for the Sunday roast, but they had a plate of similar items for the roast. The service is super fast, but it is hard to get a place, so come prepared
This pub has my heart, I have to admit it. The decoration is simply perfect for the environment, you feel yourself at home with the coziness it is provided aside from being dog friendly in the bar area, which I love. Their own produced drinks are nearly to perfection and I encourage you to try. The food is marvelous, highlight to the roasted vegetables, hamburgers and pasta. What else can we expect or ask for a pub? They have it all!
Yes! This pub with its Christmas decorations is amazing! It is warm and cosy! Not so warm the welcome from the waiters to the entrance neither in the restaurant side. We were a group of eight people, luckily we found a small table and also we found and collected the chairs around in the pub, toing and froing among the other tables. Burgers and dishes really good but completely overpriced. We ate them on our laps and nobody cared about. We went here for the decorations but we won't come anymore
I've always really enjoyed the HITW and would have rated the food offering pretty highly. What I experienced today was seriously poor, in terms of food and service. I know the hospitality industry is hard-pressed at the moment so I can forgive a lot of rough edges. But this was just so poor. I watched staff just purposeful avoid/ignore customers rather than answer questions/assist them. The worst part of the entire experience? The food menu. We brought two young kids - aged 2 and 4. The "Children's Menu" is priced at FIFTEEN EURO per person. And offers standard 'goujon/sausage/fish and chips' options......for e15 it's actually inexplicable. Kids menu should be priced accordingly and not out to gouge people. For what is a plate of food costing 2-3 euro. The service as mentioned, was non existent. When our food was brought to the table the server brought our receipt at the same time and asked me "do you want the card machine now?"......I literally hadn't taken a bite of the food Seriously poor, and seriously overpriced for what it is. A real shame as it was a great spot a few years back.
Said to be the longest pub in Ireland indeed Europe - heard about 100m. Located behind Aras an Uachtarain Irish Presidental residence alongside wall of Phoenix Park. Decent Guinness - €6. A quirk - Christmas decorations still hanging since Covid times.
The Christmas decorations are about the only thing this place has going for it. AVOID! Completely disappointed after a much looked forward to visit. Attended tonight with 5 people. Our order came out wrong, we brought this to the attention of the staff who told us we were wrong. Bad start. Not wanting to make a fuss on the night of a birthday meal we ate the food. It was the worst meal we have ever had the food was tasteless, thrown together, cold and just point blank disgusting. Staff were extremely rude. Rolling eyes, making faces, no manners. I have never complained in a restaurant we are not the type but this service was too bad not to. The manager reluctantly took 40 euro off a 200 bill. I would of been better off burning my money. Really shocked and disappointed especially as it is hyped up so much. Never again and I will be telling everyone to avoid completely. Much nicer places with Christmas decorations. Don't waste your time and hard earned money.
Now this is one of the most interesting pubs I have ever visited! There was Christmas decorations in late summer and I absolutely loved it! The staff are sooooo friendly and the atmosphere was delightful. It is definitely a hidden gem and a hole in the wall for sure. Love this place, great job on a very successful pub.
Each year we book our family Christmas night here. We always look forward to it. This year we were shocked. 10 of us booked in to the restaurant. Firstly we were seated just inside the door. It was cold and people coming in to the restaurant stood on top of us the whole night. Our waiter was pleasant but he wasn’t even able to write our order down. We were also told we could only avail of a menu with 4 starter options, 4 mains and 4 desserts because we were a group of 10. This hasn’t happened before. Our food came at different times. Limited cater for gluten free, two starters, one of which was a salad and no dessert options except kids ice cream. The same dishes varied in size and Ingredients and we ahead to ask multiple times for cutlery each course. Dessert was by far the biggest let down. One advice on dessert, don’t get it. In fact we won’t be returning at all for food or drinks. Very very disappointing and to top it off, no Christmas music played.
Great place, nice food, and the Christmas decorations are class! Recommend to book ahead since it is pretty busy this time of the year
