The Henry Moore Institute is a world-recognised centre for the study of sculpture in the heart of Leeds. Admission to all of our exhibitions is free.

Story

An award-winning exhibitions venue, research centre, library and sculpture archive, the Institute hosts a year-round programme of exhibitions, conferences, lectures, research, and publications that aim to expand the understanding and scholarship of historical and contemporary sculpture. The Institute is a part of The Henry Moore Foundation, which was set up by Moore in 1977 to encourage appreciation of the visual arts, especially sculpture.

Nestled above the Henry Moore Institute gallery is one of Leeds' true hidden gems, the Henry Moore Institute library. An oasis of calm, it contains one of the finest collections on sculpture in the English language and Henry Moore's archive. 
Under used and under appreciated, this amazing resource in the middle of Leeds is a treasure every art student or enthusiast should know about. Open all week to everyone, it's welcoming, well appointed and staffed by knowledgeable and pleasant staff who are only too happy to help. Love it.

The exhibit was large with some great work to see. This could also be it's one flaw as it's focus seems to be around quanitity rather than quality. Nevertheless there are some real gems within the gallery that make it really worthwhile. There is also a really beautiful cafeteria nearby to get some nice food if you fancy a break. Very nice thing to do on a rainy day in Leeds

A superb collection of artwork to delight and contemplate. Entry is free and there are staff that are more than happy to talk to you about the pieces.

Great place to spend some spare time with a friend or waiting for a friend. Free entry! The sculptures are a delight.

A lovely place to visit with Moores very early sculptures and drawings as well as other peoples work showing the various influences on Moore.
