My Father recently moved into Hawthorns.Mawuli and his team were kind and considerate during the transition from living independently to moving to Hawthorns. All of the staff are kind.respectful and considerate. My father was allowed to take several personal items.Mawuli leads his team with dignity and a unassuming presence his kindness and caring nature is evident.I am sure my father will be treated with the dignity and respect during his time residing here.nThank you for a wonderful start to my fathers residency with you all at Hawthorns.
When we were handed by the local hospital the daunting task of finding our aunt a nursing home, stories of mistreatment behind closed doors portrayed by TV programmes immediately sprang to mind. We had less than a week, in an area not too familiar to us, to find this “nice new home”.nnWe visited one home which was not really meeting our expectations but afterwards as luck would have it and completely on the off-chance we called in to The Hawthorns intending to pick up a brochure/information sheet as we had not made an appointment to view. To our surprise we were immediately shown round all the facilities, looked at a couple of rooms which were vacant and met some of the residents and staff in the lounge.nnOur aunt has now been a resident for 11 months and we see how everyone is treated with kindness and respect and we cannot speak highly enough of all the staff who are so friendly and welcoming. The ‘Activities Team’ amaze us with the events they organise and how hard they work to ensure all the residents are included, if they want to be. The manager is always seen in and around all the areas so if you have a problem or request, he is very approachable and takes action to ensure whatever is discussed is implemented.nnIt was certainly our good fortune that led us to The Hawthorns Nursing Home. Our aunt is the best she has been for well over a year.
My father Dennis was taken to The Hawthorns for end of life care, following a short time in hospital. Prior to his arrival, the family felt very anxious, fearing he would be left unattended for long periods and about any visiting restrictions still linked to the pandemic. However, our fears were quickly eased by the manager “Mawuli” and his staff, who all took time to answer any questions or concerns we had. Their approach was welcoming, highly professional and very reassuring. We were fully aware of a very limited life expectancy and sadly my father passed away after just 2 weeks, but during that short time, his care was faultless, dignified and compassionate. We could visit at anytime day and night, and several family member did so, each reporting a warm homely feel and immaculate cleanliness at all times. The staff were always very attentive and monitored regularly, making sure dads individual needs were met and that he was comfortable, nothing ever appeared too much trouble. We also noticed that the other residents looked well cared for, happy and content and that the staff were constantly interacting with them in a friendly manner. As dads health deteriorated, we were kept informed of any changes and the family was supported throughout the difficult time we had to face. We remain very grateful to all staff at The Hawthorns. They looked after my father beautifully but also showed sensitivity and compassion to the entire family on a level I think it would have been hard to beat anywhere else. Special thanks to Mawuli, Maddi, Rohni, Trish, Tash and Grace, but not forgetting anyone else who was involved in dads care, you were all wonderful.
My father Frank Stephens was at Hawthorns Care home in Southampton and was treated extremely well with the whole staff and the activity’s which were laid on for its residents. From the Nursling team, Carers, Maintenance staff, and Cleaners all treated the residents with the up-most respect and dignity. He was there for palliative care and end of life care and I was very happy with the time he spent there. Thank You. You all should be proud of yourselves
2017 Mum was here for 6 years I found the staff very caring approachable and helpful. They were always available to help the resident or you. If ever there were any problems the Staff, carers and management would always resolve the issue as quickly as possible. My Mum loved it here and thought of it as her home. When in hospital she would ask to go home! I have nothing but deep felt gratitude and respect for the people that work here. Thank you so much for looking after mum and I so well.
