One of the historic pubs in Bristol. Great atmosphere, a great variety of beers and ciders. Good prices and very good food. A place for every hour.
Had a fantastic visit and loved every second. The food was great, the music was great and so was the atmosphere. I had the Halloumi and Chips, and my wife had Hunters Chicken, which was the best I've ever had actually. Definitely going back again.
The oldest pub in Bristol, so quaint, lots of private areas, unbelievable selection of beers, very clean, friendly staff and lots and lots of football on the TV's. Food menu looks delicious..seems to be a stop off on the way to Ashton gate too. Very close to Trenchard Street and park Street. Definitely a go back to place when I'm back in Bristol
A proper pub, no messing around. Tonnes of charm, full of nooks and crannies, friendly staff and a good priced Sunday carvery. The roast potatoes were the Aunt Bessie type, but the rest of it was excellent. The gravy was lush and the roast pork was by far the best I've had anywhere. Finished our meal and then popped upstairs for a few chilled games of pool, on one of their 3 pool tables. A really enjoyable Sunday afternoon.
A very old pub with renovated interior. We had 1 drink before going somewhere else for lunch.
Drink selection was great and the food and pricing was really good too. The little brunette that served us though was the grumpiest Bar Maid I've ever met! Someone needs to cheer up a bit! Can't give 5 stars as she was cold as ice.
Never a bad time at this pub. Bar staff really nice, atmosphere brilliant I always take my friends who have never been and they always enjoy it.
Great pub to go to before a gig or generally packed with history Bristol's oldest pub and the door made of skin . Service is fast and friendly and the food is great and reasonably priced £10-13 for a burger and chips - similar for other items. Good selection of pints ranging from the commercial usuals to local craft offerings. Also had an extensive alcohol free range which is good to see.
3/5 Stars In My Opinion.. Not a bad place to go for drinks, Food & pool etc with friends but the long que to get a drink especially on a Friday / Saturday night is mental… Noticed they have Two bars one opposite the other side but even when one bar side is full of customers waiting for drinks they don’t think to open the other side to get the Massive crowed of people out of the way. Staff are friendly, drinks are cold and fresh and food is pretty good depending on what you order! Would definitely go again but would like to see more effort put in from the staff or owners when it comes to serving people for the drinks.. Shouldn’t have to practically get into a argument with someone for jumping in front of me to get served by the person making drinks and it should be first come first serve not who pushes to the front of the line to get served..
Ideal city centre pub: hazy pale ale from a local Bristol brewery was excellent as we're the steak and onion baguettes. Top marks for the chips accompanying the baguette. TV screens showing live sports were unobtrusive - could ignore or watch whichever suits.
