Good service but the roast dinner was disappointing. Served luke warm, roast beef was too tough to eat, potatoes undercooked, as were the carrots. The Yorkshire pudding, peas and parsnips were ok. A pity as this could be my local. Hope the feedback is noted and addressed.
Horrendous. Cold bread, cold meat, crisps instead of chips? The beef could of been off, it smelt very strong. I have lived in Westbury for 30 years and this place has never been so bad. Ember inns really need to invest in this place.
A very mixed experience. Visit was at about 2pm. I think negative first..the app for ordering didn't work for me. We asked for an umbrella for the table to shade a new born..this wasn't availabe. My daughter wanted a cup of tea outside but was told it was only available inside..so we went inside but no hot drinks were being served. Positives..the food we ordered came quickly and was very good. Joe was a very attentive member of staff. A great location. The negatives are so easy to fix.
The White Lion in WOT, great location for meeting with family and friends. Food is reasonably priced and good sized portions. Staff work hard to keep everyone happy, especially Ash, Sam and Harvey who always smile and say hello. Avoid super busy times and you won't be disappointed.
Went for a drink and whilst there looked at the menu, the choice of food was very good and ordered food. I always ask for the receipt so I can check the time food was ordered. After 45mins and asking the waitress about our order I went to get my money back. As I was at the bar waiting to explain my situation the waitress came and told me that they were sorry for the delay and it was due to staffing issues. The 2 meals were excellent and we left full and happy. If we had been told about the wait when we purchased the food we would have bought more drinks and enjoyed the pub even more. Would and will be going again!
Good staff warm welcome, fast service..All areas clean. Prices are good.. Although I do feel the standard could improve.. I did eat my food. Seemed to be quite popular, but I did attend on a 50% off... Yes I would go again.
Came with friend this evening The pie was over cooked - pastry rock hard Chicken breast very small with only few chips and peas Both meals not very hot - just warm Not impressed - table dirty - carpets dirty Bar person friendly is the only positive I can give Saw someone else had left 75 per cent of their meal - plates left on table - we put ours on the chair so we could chat. They were still there when we left over 1.5 hours later
We used to visit The White Lion regularly before Covid struck, treating our Aunt to lunch; it was one of our favourite places in the Bristol area. Not any more! Our last visit - and I mean last - we were treated to poor service where the cutlery was thrown onto the table. Food standard definitely slipped despite same menu, cold and presentation sloppy. We noted the car park was practically empty when previously we struggled to park. Says it all really.
We had such a lovely experience this time last year at the white lion. What a shame it was so different this time. Only half the food was brought out, 20 minutes later the other half arrived. When I complained which I think I had right too I was told by the manager she didn’t like my tone. She went on to tell me how bad her back was…. Which was clearly the reason for her terrible customer service. One of my children NEVER received the correct order but by this stage what more could I say?? What a disgrace. All she needed to do was say sorry. I do hope the manager feels better soon, I’ve made sure to tell Ember inn’s all about my concerns for her.
Not somewhere I would recommend to be honest. It's shabby, knocked about, smelly and the carpets are meh. The food is horrible also. My husbands pie was hard with 2 bits of non descript meat, instant gravy and wonder mash. My food was tepid and bland, the asparagus was stringy and limp. It's not exactly cheap either. Such a shame as we've not been in for a while and not likely to eat there again yet we've been going there for decades now.
