Very nice venue and friendly wait staff and lovely atmosphere but we waited 1.5 hours for our food. They did apologize for the slow service and gave us free bread to snack on. Food was unfortunately not fantastic. The yorkshire pudding was completely flat except for mine and wasn't appetizing. A salad was ordered Beetroot, added chicken but almost no chicken and was sent back unfortunately. The burger that was ordered was really good according to the person who ordered it.nPerhaps an off day so I would go back since the service was very good and the wait staff were very apologetic about the issues. Went with my sister and her husband and they were very impressed with their last visit.
Food .. very average. My chicken Kiev was overcooked and the nod to garlic butter was on the outside of the meat. Veg...very overcooked. Chips, tepid. My partner's salmon was also overcooked and very salty. Staff, be lady was great and very helpful but we had to ask for help and candidly could have walked out and nobody would have noticed. Ambiance ...it's a nice space and spacious but ...noisy.nSummary. Not bad but not good and maybe by local standards good value but I felt overpriced. Go there again? No.
Myself and my partner and family come at least once a week, sometimes twice for food and drinks, the food is beautiful, the Sunday roasts are outstanding and the portion sizes are huge!nThe staff are always amazing can’t fault anything! Even things that aren’t on the menu if you ask they will try and accommodate. Our waitress was Janette and she was brilliant as she always is! Making sure we had everything we need and very attentive! One of our favourite places to go for food and drinks!
Came for a Sunday roast with the family. I was told we needed a reservation which they were accommodating. The service was incredibly slow took over an hour before food came out. The over-arching theme was dry food. The burgers were grey in the middle. The roast tasted like it was sitting on the counter for some time. Won’t be returning for the food.
Lovely roast dinner with family on the weekend! Great beer and service. Location is very handy for a stop after a walk along the river. Ida our waitress was a real standout and went above and beyond to make it an extra special experience. Would give The Grove 10 stars if I could!
