The Grove Pub in Handsworth is one of the oldest pubs in the area. With food, drink and Sky Sports, it's the place to be for a friendly and vibrant atmosphere.

Story

The Grove, based on Grove Lane, is one of the oldest pubs in Handsworth (1891), and over a century later its buzzing atmosphere combined with great food and drink means it is the place to go.

At the bar, you can get a wide selection of traditional ales, beers, ciders and spirits, and The Grove now has a tasty meals menu too, that includes international barbeque foods.

On warm summer evenings, you can enjoy your food and drink in the spacious inviting beer garden, and you can light up dark winter nights drinking inside, with the other friendly customers or talking to the landlord, Piara S Paul. Piara is the respected heart of the pub, welcoming and pleasant and always keeping the atmosphere light and fun-loving for all his customers.

Sometimes places like these need to be properly named and shamed. Specifically ask for saag, vegetarian dish, and you get saag chicken with the chicken taken out but you know it as there are small pieces of chicken still there. proper cheap trick go royal oak or soho tavern....even sportsman!
The place is right in the centre of city. A good place to be if you want to have some starters with beer and other drinks. The biggest problem with the place is it's main course which is just average. I ate chicken 49, tandoori fish tikka and chicken tikka biryani. The ambience is very below average. A lot of noise with tables very close to each other.
I recently visited The Grove Bar & Restaurant and had an absolutely fantastic experience! The Mix Grill was a highlight, featuring delicious Chicken Tikka, succulent Seekh Kebabs, perfectly seasoned Lamb Chops, and flavorful Wings. Every bite was a delight! Additionally, the noodles and Chilli Chicken were exceptional, adding a wonderful variety to the meal. The flavors were spot on, and everything was cooked to perfection. To top it all off, I enjoyed an ice-cold Coke from the bar, which was the perfect refreshment to accompany such a delicious meal. The Grove Bar & Restaurant has truly nailed it with their menu and service. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a great dining experience!
My experience of the Grove especially on my last visit left alot to be desired, surely it cannot just be about making money as that is the after taste it left me with. Thumbs down for customer service which is next to none! It's sad that those in business think little of asking if consumers enjoy their meals or even the bar staff just extending their hand continuously for payment whilst head is turned in a opposite direction, not to mention staff leaning over & clearing plates and cutlery off the table while the customer is trying to fill take home containers?? Why can't they just wait!! On a better note I do enjoy the food. Place could do with a revamp. Customer service is so important hope this gets taken on board.
Food was beautiful best curry I've ever eaten Lamb special rogan Ghost Staff friendly. Portion sizes are huge! I will definitely return and it's Quite busy which is always a good sign. Would be nice to have a option for smaller rice portion sizes as in my group we wasted alot of the rice which I hate waste! Mixed grill was huge we had the 15pound one and we couldn't finish it. Only down side is the Toilets they were disgusting , that was the only let down.
I loved the food at the Grove Pub, Handsworth, Birmingham UK. We ordered the sampler grill platter. Everything was delicious. This place is a family favourite. It was very busy as usual and even though we had a large party the server seated us quickly, we didn't have a long wait. Great experience I wish I could go again.
Went in for a curry. Was my first time but wont be my last ! Food was amazing, i had the tikka massala and my friends has the mixed grill, full of flavour and big portions ! Service was crazy quick. Highly recommendFood: 5/5
A clean pub and grill place with lot of seating and live sports. There is separate seating for food and bar area. A lavish array of drinks and food menu. Food is served hot and succulent. The service is quick and pleasing. Parking: There is enough parking but very close to each other but be mindful on peak times when there is Live Football matches. Kid-friendliness: Kids Friendly dishes
Really lovely food! I had a Regular Mixed Grill and a Peshawari naan bread. It was HUGE! I enjoyed it and even took loads of it home!Food: 5/5
There was a time when I would tell everyone that this was the best pub for a desi mixi, so thought I'd pop in for the first time in years and see if it's still up there. In short, it wasn't. I had the Grove Special Mixed Grill which had nice lamb chops, good kebabs, salmon which is quite a rare addition to a mixi, but not bad, and then was mostly loaded with bland tasting chicken in it. Surprisingly, no fish pakoras for such a big grill. The curry I had was also lacking some flavour. It just tasted of salt and not much else. Beer selection was ok, but sadly, this place has fallen behind in terms of food IMO. Also, they still don't have table service, so you still have to collect everything yourself when it's ready. Was very cold in there too, but nice interior furnishing and convenient car park.
